And how can we take advantage of the mind’s connection to the body to reduce pain, boost physical performance, and even treat disease? Answer these questions and more in The Power of Mind over Body, a 12-lecture course that will change the way you think about physical health and the brain.

I came here after listening to The Human Cosmos. I liked that book very much, and this course on the Mind-Body interactions didn't disappoint. Well reaserched, cautious but thought-provoking and at the same time eye-opening, I would recommend it to whoever says that treatments should only focus on the pills and procedures. I enjoyed this course.

I really enjoyed this story. Full of emotions. Abraham's reading was outstanding. It is quite voluminous but it is worth it in the end.

Story
When did we begin to be as self-centered as we are today? At what point did we expect to have the right to determine our own lives? When did we first ask the question, how can I be free? It all began in the 1790s in a quiet university town in Germany when a group of playwrights, poets, and writers put the self at center stage in their thinking, writing, and their lives.

An excellent thought-provoking audiobook. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The narration was spot-on, and I appreciated the pauses she made that allowed the sentences to sink in. Totally recommended audiobook.

Story
In The Dream of Enlightenment, Anthony Gottlieb expertly navigates a second great explosion of thought, taking us to northern Europe in the wake of its wars of religion and the rise of Galilean science. In a relatively short period - from the early 1640s to the eve of the French Revolution - Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Locke, Leibniz, and Hume all made their mark. The Dream of Enlightenment tells their story and that of the birth of modern philosophy.

I really liked this relatively short introduction to the period known as Enlightenment. It provides comparisons with contemporary as well as ancient times and explains both author's point of view as well as a general overview of the period.

Story
