This is the abriged version of a much much larger three book trilogy. This is more for the casual reader with limited time rather than for those looking for a few hundred more pages worth of detail. Though to be honest thus book still serves its purpose and it certainly hits home as much as the other books do. By all means future readers, students of socialist/communist history, sociologists, psychologists read this book and take Solzhenitzyn's words carefully. I'd also recommend reading Victor E Frankle's book Mans Search for Meaning and draw parallels.

This book has some hard lessons that coincide with Peterson's previous book, 12 Rules For Life. If you're one who buys into the media and woke culture hype about the man, this may actually be a book that would be good for you to read and make you ponder more about who the man behind this book is.

This book takes a rather unexpected pagan turn and paralells it with Christian doctrine, more so than 12 RFL, which is more focused on Christianity. This creates a unique and rather thought provoking message that a person such as I who does subscribe more to the pagan belief, and those of other faiths, can easily digest, incorporate, or find commonalities with those whose beliefs we differ from.

I found myself crying as some of the things hit hard for me as they were lessons I have learned, forgotten, or have never considered until now.

I cannot rate the book properly as it only gave me one star. honestly deserves 4 starts in that the book talks about issues we Americans do not think of much less know about today in 2021.

regardless of if you are a graduate of economics or a novice trying to get a basic foothold in the topic, this book provides much insite into the world of economics, and the thought process of Thomas Sowell. many accuse him of spreading propaganda , however if one should know anything about Thomas Sowell is that he is a student and educator of the chicago school of economics that often conflicts with the Keynesian school of economics of which in part 5 talks about the basic concepts of certain economic schools of thought through history. If you have an open ear and seek knowledge, please read this book.

Animal Farm in conjunction of the Gulag Archipelago, Das Kapital (Capital), the Communist Manifesto, and even enlightenment thinkers is a brilliant yet simple way of introducing readers young and old into the complicated and long history of Communism, socialism, and warns about the climb of tyranny and dictatorships whether we praise the leaders and founders as being brilliant revolutionaries dedicated to the progress of humanity, or abhor actions of the few against another group. It serves as a warning through the generations and is even more important that Gen X, Millenials, and Gen Z heed these warnings before it's too late.

If it weren't for the problem of certain parts literally being repeated, I would have given it more stars. But despite that, the book still provides useful info.

while there are many things I would disagree with in this book and make me question their validity or the author's validity, there are pleanty of opportunities and things to learn that do not just apply to politics, theology, psychology, sociology, etc. that should also be researched.

Written the early 2010's there is quite a bit that is outdated or have entirely been predicted that have come true within the last 8-10 years since the publication. Certainly something to listen and read along to if one of the kinds of people who enjoys challenging themselves to alternate views or even questioning themselves.

A must read for everyone interested in the humanities regardless of political affiliation. I must warn that buying and reading the works of Marx, Engles and influences and or/buying the physical copy of this book as well as Sowell's Basic Economics will help one follow through before and after; this book can get technical and having it read to you can be challenging for some, including myself. I'd also implore others to look into the history of the times and places they wrote and expressed their views.

This book provides a very solid outline of Marxian philosophy and economics as well as a brief description of the lives of the two men and the legacies of their work.

In my attempt to encourage readers I will say: No one is lacking in intelligence for not being able to get through the book.

The book and it's message was awesome and neatly put together in the same relative steps I took by myself to achieve the same conclusions. The downside was that I found the narrator lacking some sort of solidity in her voice needed in many parts of the book. Even with a bit too flighty of a voice, she did a decent job enough for me to keep on listening.
