Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world. But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

A unique story

I loved this book SO MUCH- at the suggestion of a teacher, I decided to spend my credit on this and it did not disappoint. I like how the author is so incredible creative with her descriptions of people, places, and things. I know I’ll find myself inspired by her on a regular basis. Some of the descriptions will stick with me forever. With the knowledge that I loved this, my main and extremely minor critique was how at times, it felt a bit pretentious how the author described New York. And how Addie was supposed to be so insanely beautiful that she could pull almost any man? My other minor issue was how I felt about the ending- sooo much buildup towards Addie and Luc, and such little payoff for her in the end.. I don’t demand all the gaps be filled for me, but maybe just a few of them? You see, these are normal small opinions about a wonderful book- no book will be perfect to anyone. I’d ABSOLUTELY listen/read it again! I just wanted to share my thoughts. Can’t wait for the movie.

Story
An initiation signals a beginning: a door opens and you step through. Traditional Wiccan initiates are usually brought into the craft through a ceremony with a High Priestess. But even though Amanda Yates Garcia's mother, a practicing witch herself, initiated her into the earth-centered practice of witchcraft when she was 13 years old, Amanda's real life as a witch only began when she underwent a series of spontaneous initiations of her own.

Enchanting and magical

The story of Amanda’s life is unbelievable, but somehow completely relatable in spirit. As a fellow woman, witch, underworld expert, and lover of all things beautiful, this book has revived me and inspired me so much. Thank you for this wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing your stories with us.
