predictable
Reviewed: 11-17-24
The story was OK but the narrator was absolutely horrible. No inflection at all. He didn't change his intonation to match the expressions in the story.

horrible narrator

I think I would like this book, but couldn't get past the horrible, stilted performance of the narrator. Looks like I will have to buy a hard copy.

Story
When Justin walks out on Alice on their honeymoon, with no explanation apart from a cryptic note, Alice is left alone and bewildered, her life in pieces. Then she meets Evelyn, a visitor to the gallery where she works. It's a seemingly chance encounter, but Alice gradually learns that Evelyn has motives, and a heartbreaking story, of her own. And that story has haunting parallels with Alice's life. As Alice delves into the mystery of why Justin left her, the questions are obvious. But the answers may lie in the most unlikely of places...

This author used the non-word "disorientate" more than once and I couldn't listen to it any further after that.

Story
Robert, Shelly, and Cal barely made it out of the Seventh Ward with their lives, let alone their sanity. But now, flush with cash, they have settled into a comfortable routine. Underlying it all, however, are nagging questions that continue to bother all three, questions that can't be ignored once Robert starts experiencing dreams - dreams of a prison isolated on an island with ties to Leland Black. Before long, he comes to the uncomfortable conclusion that their encounters with ghosts are only the beginning.

needs a new narrator
Reviewed: 03-20-17
The narrator did not change voices enough between the characters, even the females. It made following along confusing.

Narrator stinks
Reviewed: 12-23-16
Couldn't even continue listening. The narrator reads awkwardly and it was distracting. It was a waste of money.
