The story was awful. The voice was grating. One of the worst books ever. Tried to stay with it but it had no redeeming qualities.

Story
Betrayed by her father, Marsaili Campbell risks her life to recover what he has stolen from her. But when she's kidnapped and wagered away, she has no one to help her escape other than the very man she's spent the past three years trying to forget; Highland warrior Callum Grant. She once gave her heart and her innocence to the handsome Scot, only to regret her naive decisions. Still, with more enemies than she can battle alone, she needs an ally, even if she must hide the truth of her circumstances from him. Laird Callum Grant thrust his clan into war for the love of a woman, only to lose her forever. But when the woman he believed dead appears at his clan’s tourney in dire trouble, there’s no denying Marsaili has been alive all this time. With his clan weakened from the years of raids and battles, however, he cannot afford to do anything that would ruin the betrothal he’s made to secure his clan’s future. Yet he can’t turn away from the woman who once beguiled him body and soul.

Story
Next to the Season’s newest diamond, Harriet (Hattie) Woodchurch feels like a plain Jane. But that’s of no consequence, since Hattie’s plan for her future is to earn enough to live far, far away from her embarrassing family. That is until Mateo Vincente, Duke of Santiava and newly minted Viscount Abbott, arrives in London. While the shy European’s spoken English is impeccable, his writing is less fluent. The ton is eager to meet the handsome bachelor, and so many invitations flood in that Mateo needs a correspondence secretary.

Story
Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

The narrator made the main male character sound like a dirty old man and the another men as squealing pigs. It also got so loud compared to the female voices it was jarring. Worst I ever heard. Never complained before. I would recommend to read this not listen.

I love Kleypas books but this was a dud. Rosalyn Landor is my favorite performer and was the only positive about this experience. Awful story. I have not written a bad review before but since the audibles are so expensive I figured I’d warn others. Such a disappointment when I’ve loved her other books so much.
