Story
For the first time, Hillary Rodham Clinton reveals what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history. Now free from the constraints of running, Hillary takes you inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules. This is her most personal memoir yet.

We all want to know what happened!

It is such an intimate story and Hillary methodically goes through what happened and so much more. For people that don't trust her or feel she is distant and cold, I think this book will give you some insight into your perceptions and maybe change a few people's mind. I didn't want it to end because I felt so close to her, like a friend sitting with her drinking coffee. My 12 year old daughter listened along with me and she loved it.

Story
Dave Pelzer was brutally abused as a child by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. She considered him a slave - no longer a boy, but an "it". He was physically and mentally tortured and starved. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare he experienced behind closed doors, and his father was aware of the abuse but turned to denial and alcohol. The abuse only fueled a determination to survive and become stronger.

Disturbing and Painful
Reviewed: 04-23-19
For those of us that did not grow up in an abusive home, it is so eye opening. Every page is painful. The abuse just gets worse and worse and the situation seems hopeless. I was so anxious to learn how this tragic figure persevered. I hope this man can live a healthy happy life after what he endured. It also is very insightful about mentally ill people that go undiagnosed and the families that live with them.

Story
Dorothy Parker's quips and light verse have embedded themselves in the American literary landscape, but it was her prose that proved her star and demonstrated her talent as extending far beyond her time. In her fiction, she not only brought to life the urban milieu that was her bailiwick, but lay bare the uncertainties of ordinary people living ordinary lives, all told in her unflinching and deeply personal voice. In these selected stories, read for you by Elaine Stritch, we have the chance to draw upon her insight into the social and emotional realities of human nature.

Absolutely loved the reading from Elaine Stritch. I actually purchased this audible because she read it. So wonderful to listen to short stories that I read over and over but this time through a voice that feels like it could actually be Dorthy's.

Story
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

Read by her daughter. When quoting her mother and father she mimics them and it really helps you relate to the characters and although the daughter is reading, you feel like it is Lucy. I really enjoyed the story. Lots on her relationship with Desi. Not a lot of information on her 2nd marriage. It is a fast listen and takes you back to a very special time.

Loved the audible book with her voice. It was nice to hear the story of her life and she is so insightful. She lays it all out and fully exposed. If you are a survivor of incest or abuse, it can be empowering to see how it affected her life and how she views it throughout her life. She is ever changing. And yes, there is a chapter on Burt.

Story
From her first moment at Merryweather High, Melinda Sordino knows she's an outcast. She busted an end-of-summer party by calling the cops, a major infraction in high-school society, so her old friends won't talk to her, and people she doesn't know glare at her. She retreats into her head, where the lies and hypocrisies of high school stand in stark relief to her own silence, making her all the more mute.

Perfect for early teens
Reviewed: 04-23-19
This book when read at the right time is perfect. Before a girl starts experimenting with dating and sex, it is important to lay a foundation of what is right and what is wrong. The story is told through the voice of a teenager. Very relatable and spot on. It is an eye opener to naïve girls on the dangers of dating and the dangers that lay awaiting at teen parties. I listened to the audible alongside my daughter in the car and it was powerful. Nothing inappropriate and very age appropriate and will make girls think!

Dr. Jamison is one of the foremost authorities on manic-depressive (bipolar) illness; she has also experienced it firsthand. For even while she was pursuing her career in academic medicine, Jamison found herself succumbing to the same exhilarating highs and catastrophic depressions that afflicted many of her patients, as her disorder launched her into ruinous spending sprees, episodes of violence, and an attempted suicide.

Honest and comforting
Reviewed: 10-01-18
It was nice to have a perspective from a person that treats people with BiPolar, experience working in mental hospitals, a doctor of psychiatry, a patient, and a person with a unique ability to see their own disease and provide valuable insight. The messages were clear and repeated throughout the book and I find this very helpful when reading. A lot of reinforcement. This book helped me immensely and I thank the author for such honesty.
