…ending to the series. Beautifully and thoughtfully written. Extremely creative. The ending was touching. Usually I come away from a series not knowing what to read next and with a sense of loss for the characters I’ve come to know. This last book in the series provided a touching and poignant closure. Well done!

Story
Janine Potter grew up on the other side of the tracks. Her mother, Nancy, struggled with just about everything—alcohol, men, money—and Janine made a pledge to herself that she would never be like her. At age nineteen, Janine met Jack Potter, the son of an oil tycoon, and never looked back. Her life became a series of cocktail parties and multi-million-dollar apartments all across the world, and rubbing elbows with celebrities. Slowly, memory of her mother faded, although the trauma never really did.

I love the narration. The storyline had lots of gaps. The book should’ve been filled with more detail on other aspects. Part of the story. Either way I was ready to sign up for book 2 if there was one, but there isn’t. Not a fab read but not a bad read. 😊

Story
Pete Townshend is one of the great figures in rock ‘n’ roll history. For almost 60 years, The Who have balanced the physical and the spiritual with introspective lyrics and inspirational music. But there is a part of Townshend’s story—and The Who’s—that has not been examined. These are his Words + Music. In the Audible Original Pete Townshend: Somebody Saved Me, the songwriter takes us through the period between the 1978 death of Who drummer Keith Moon and the 2002 loss of bassist John Entwistle.

Cute read. Nice break from the every day. The narrator is one of my fave but… The voices were sometimes SO over exaggerated it’s all I could focus on. I wish it weren’t so. Either way I downloaded Book 2 in the series because the ending was a good cliffhanger and I want more in the series.

I like this author’s books. But this one…not too much. I actually sped up the narration speed to help get through it quicker. The narrator’s own speed of speech went dramatically from normal to slow. I tried really hard to like this book. Too much back and forth between current and past. It felt like it took forever to get to a point. Too many anticlimactic moments that took too long to get to. It was a miss in my opinion.
