Story
Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored. We look like a normal couple. We're your neighbors, the parents of your kid's friend, the acquaintances with whom you keep meaning to get dinner. We all have our secrets to keeping a marriage alive. Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.

Wow! Just wow! This is a great read!

What an excellent read! (Also this was listened to on Audible which I recommend) I started reading this book because it was different than all the other books. I read about a couple who have something odd in common what they like to do is unbelievable. I’m not gonna give a spoiler however as the twist comes in this book, the bigger twist comes in the epilogue. I am adding this book to my five star reads because it just wowed me. I was not expecting what this book delivered. You should read this book it’s different. It’s very well put together and the narration was really good. Highly recommended if you want a wow!

In Seattle, she parks in a secluded spot by the beach to lay low and plan her next move—until early one morning, she sees a sobbing woman throw herself into the ocean. Lee hauls the woman back to the surface, but instead of appreciation, she is met with fury.

Twisty and and good ending
Reviewed: 02-12-25
This was a great read! Alot of twists and a page turner for me. I kept switching from my Audible to my Kindle so I could keep going. In the end I thought I had it all figured out then a twist, I didn’t! Had two narrators. One I will rate 4 stars, her sentences were too abrupt in my opinion but I guess fit for the part of Lee but the other who played Hazel was great and was like I was there listening to her. There were no gaps left open in this story which I like. I also like the very end after the ending. I won’t say on here but thought it really finished the book, which I like. I don’t like things left open or guessing. Overall good read! I also need to add… I am from Seattle and some of the I90 references were incorrect and both narrators pronounced Spokane wrong. I actually thought it was cute.

As a midwife and healer, she is privy to much of what goes on behind closed doors in Hallowell. Months earlier, Martha documented the details of an alleged rape committed by two of the town’s most respected gentlemen—one of whom has now been found dead in the ice.

Story
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

This was a great read and a good narrator. She really put the Kentucky Twain into the story made you feel like you were there. I thought Moore would come out of this book like something really crazy happening, but it just seemed like a steady read about somebody’s life. Yes they go through a few hard times but I was always waiting for that big thing that was gonna happen and that didn’t happen in this book. Maybe that was kind of nice just having a good old American story read so I’m trying to figure that out, but I did enjoy this book.

Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
