Story
Cate Kay knows how to craft a story. As the creator of a bestselling book trilogy that struck box office gold as a film series, she’s one of the most successful authors of her generation. The thing is, Cate Kay doesn’t really exist. She’s never attended author events or granted any interviews. Her real identity had been a closely guarded secret, until now.

Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except… Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye. Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says. But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…

By far the worst narration I’ve ever heard… it’s so bad that it’s worth the listen. The attempt to mimic “teenage angst” is comical….it is BAD. Consider yourself warned.

Story
A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.

I don’t have to worry about giving any spoilers because because there aren’t any to give. This a very long book with great narration that will leave you even more unsatisfied than bad sex. The potential was there…. RIGHT there but it sounds like the author ran out of steam and said “F” it and threw together the ending. Definitely want my credit back. Such a disappointment.

Horrible Narration

Boring and simple. The narration was insulting especially for any of the “parent” characters. Would have been a great selection If it were free. Getting my credit back.

I’ve read everything JP has written and I usually just leave simple and brief reviews on all books I listen to. At first when listening to this one I started to think that it was a bit drawn out and too much focus was on the detail of the sea creatures and plant life however, I had to check myself. The description and detail put into every moment had me thinking I was on the island with Diana. Beautiful skill went into the writing of this book and I hope it gets the appreciation it deserves. I definitely recommend.
