Thoroughly Enjoyed!

This is a great listen, and book. It takes a look at some serious issues that plague the LGBTQ+ community and tackles them in a very realistic and constructive manner that I think could leave some readers that are struggling with the issues of coming out, this story has a positive, but highly realistic approach to this particular topic that I found refreshing.
Even if you’re not going through coming out issues, the story is very powerful and relevant to how we approach those that are still struggling to come to terms with coming out and how it’s not easy, no matter your situation.
Overall, a Story I’d definitely recommend reading/Listening to! 👍🏼👍🏼

Story
"All the women of my family had gone to war... Now my turn had come... So, it is the custom that a free woman leave her mother's house to bind herself and those of her blood to a neighboring clan, either by the sword or by the cradle." So begins the story of young Tamras, as she embarks on her journey to become a warrior's apprentice. This epic story is not about battles and armor, but rather about relationships, coming of age and wisdom, and deep insights into the human experience.

I really do love this story, it shows everyone a different view of how society might had been structured, despite the fact that this is a fictional story. I personally own all three of the books in the series and I would love to know if you plan to publish the other two books in Audiobook format too? I would very much love to hear the story told just as much as I had reading the books.

Complex and Engaging
Reviewed: 04-27-23
The first thing to be aware of is that this is the first in the series of four books. So don’t be surprised that everything is not wrapped up by the end of this First Book.
The Second is that I would definitely recommend giving Eragon a listen. The story is a complex, richly diverse world with many strange, along with familiar concepts and ideas. It’s not a story that will leave the reader confused and guessing as to the meaning of new, while the familiar comfortably grounds what you read into a world someone that is even remotely familiar with the fantasy genre can find their footing easily and without feeling like they are missing something all the time.
I’ve read the print version many times as I own the whole series, so I was interested to see how the Audiobook version would be. I have to admit that it made an already enjoyably engaging story, even more so. Gerard Doyle did an absolutely fantastic job of bringing this story to life, with his amazing voice acting. He did more than just read words on a page he literally acted out each character, giving each different character their own unique voice and that really makes you believe they are different people as you allow your mind to fully engage into the story being told to you. I really feel like Mr. Doyle gave us all an excellent glimpse at Audio performance of what the Bards of old used to give our ancestors, for sure this performance would have easily been on per with or surpass the Radio Voice Actors from the early years of the invention of the radio!

This story should be a Slow burn’s Writer’s guide!!!
Reviewed: 07-16-22
This story has prefect pacing, characterization of there main, secondary, and background characters. The world building that has gone into this book and if the sample of the next book has any thing to go by the next book as well to, is just just stupidly realistic and so easy to slip in to the realism of the world the book has dropped you into.
This book is not a book to pass up. The narrator went above and beyond to develop rich complex nuanced voices for the many different characters in this world and it is so worth it to listen to those characters come alive and learn exactly who they are on your journey understanding the people Jericho.

SQFanFic to Novel!
Reviewed: 05-19-22
I had read this story when it was just a SQ FanFic online and so I’m really excited to see that it’s made it to audiobook format! You Go!!
This story is absolutely awesome! It always has been. It really shines a bit of a light if some issues that don’t get much attention, especially is this form. But this story does a beautiful job of bringing some hard and at times heartbreaking situations for anyone to have to constantly go through.
The Narrator did a rather good job of bringing these characters to life. I had probably had a harder time adjusting to the Narrator’s voicing choices for a few of the characters simply because I am extremely we versed in this story’s original form and characters, so I had to actively got those voices out of my head.
I will say I’m not sold on Olivia’s voicing choices. It would clashes with the image of what Olivia looked, acted, and lived like. Accents follow social lines to a pretty heavy degree and the more heavy New Yorker accent just doesn’t fit.
I am really happy at least ONE of the characters’ names remained the same! lol though I really wished the scar had stayed in the same place. Oh well… legally suck sometimes…

Narrated like a Children’s Book
Reviewed: 05-14-22
This is An Awesome Story! I use to read this story before it was available to be sold and then bought the book when it was sold. The story is dramatic, and action packed, with just enough levity to keep things from becoming bogged down and overly tense. The two main characters are magnetic to read and really help to draw the readers into the world Ali Vali has built within and around our the world we live in. I can not recommend getting this BOOK and physically taking the time to read it, it would be time very well spent!
What I can’t recommend is this Audio Version of Ali Vali’s Balance of Forces: Toujours Ici. Charley Ongel has a lovely smooth voice, it’s not grating or unpleasant to the ear. The problem lies in the way she up speaks on everything sentence as a lot of people speak and read to a child, or when reading young children’s books. In fact, I think this Narrator would be great for children’s books, but I just couldn’t get past the first five paragraphs. Mainly because I know what kind of story this is and the drama and action that is going to happen in it. I would guess that if I didn’t I would be wary of the way she was reading but kept going until I learned more about the characters and the story to see if the narration fit or if I could stand it that long.
I really recommend saving your credit/money on this Audiobooks and just get the Physical and Kindle version of the books instead. I think you’d be much more satisfied and have more fun in the long run.

Kip's past follows her into Jordan's carefully constructed, and safe, world, disrupting Jordan's orderly life and threatening to uncover all the secrets she'd locked away:

Interesting and engaging!
Reviewed: 07-14-20
This story is, in many ways, a typical girl meets girl and they find themselves in near instant attraction kind of story, but that is where the similarities pretty much end. Radclyffe does an excellent job of weaving a unique story for this love story to take place. The characters are full and flushed out, making them interesting to follow along on their respective individual as well as paired journey through the story. The Narrative flows easily and smoothly throughout the story, keeping the reader/listener engaged the whole way through. AJ Ferraro, the narrator for this story, does an amazing job of pulling the reader into Kip and Jordan’s world. Giving the various characters in the story their own unique voices and beautifully breathing life into the characters with every word she reads.
I have been reading Radclyffe’s work for over 15 years now, but this is the first time I’ve had the chance to listen to one of her books brought to life in Audiobook form, and I was not disappointed at all to have this story be the first. I would highly recommend this story/audiobook and this author in general.
