In many ways, there has never been a better time to get into Dungeons & Dragons. More people are playing the game now than ever before, and along with that expanded player base has come a wealth of new ideas and content that, thanks to the internet, can be easily disseminated amongst the player base. It excites me to see so many people I would never have expected to have an interest in this incredibly nerdy hobby not only give it a try, but find that it can be more than a fun pastime, and can actually add value and meaning to their life and relationships.

A good primer

I haven’t played Dungeons & Dragons in 20 years, and this book was an effective summary of everything I’ve missed. I thought yet another book about the game would just complicate matters, but this is a good guide to what you need to buy and what you need to know. I got a little lost in some of the chapters dealing with arithmetic and calculations, which I don’t think translate well to audio, but I’m sure I can pick that up at the table. I enjoyed the narration and would certainly listen to another book by this voiceover artist.
