About this listen

In many ways, there has never been a better time to get into Dungeons & Dragons. More people are playing the game now than ever before, and along with that expanded player base has come a wealth of new ideas and content that, thanks to the internet, can be easily disseminated amongst the player base.

It excites me to see so many people I would never have expected to have an interest in this incredibly nerdy hobby not only give it a try, but find that it can be more than a fun pastime that provides them with momentary escapism, and can actually add value and meaning to their life and relationships. It is my hope that this is your experience with this game, as it has been mine.

Now get out there. Adventure is waiting.

I believe this release is great but it should have talked more about the differences between the different editions of Dungeons and Dragons. especially on how to play the different editions and how to blend the modules to other editions of Dungeons and Dragons. Otherwise this was very informative. Thank you from a 30+ years player.

pretty sure it's an AI reading. I don't know any human that uses those kind of inflections while speaking. alright for a very basic understanding.

I guess it's good for beginners?

I haven’t played Dungeons & Dragons in 20 years, and this book was an effective summary of everything I’ve missed. I thought yet another book about the game would just complicate matters, but this is a good guide to what you need to buy and what you need to know. I got a little lost in some of the chapters dealing with arithmetic and calculations, which I don’t think translate well to audio, but I’m sure I can pick that up at the table. I enjoyed the narration and would certainly listen to another book by this voiceover artist.

A good primer

the book is fine, but the narrator sounds like a preschool teacher. almost unbearable

the narrator almost ruins it

This is not meant to explain everything to do with D&D, rather it's meant to help you feel comfortable joining a D&D campaign for the first time. it does a good job at this!

As a D&D player since the early days of 1976. I will say that I got reminded about the early years of D&D, and learned more about the current version. I highly recommend the book.

A fun how to play book

I found the content of the book very helpful as an overview before I dip my toe in the water with the players handbook. It was also helpful for determining whether my kids are too young to play dungeons and dragons at their current ages.

One constructive comment regarding this title for future editions: The narrating style did not follow a conversational tone. Rather, it sounded bright and sunny like an infomercial, or maybe just that the narrator had not tried other ways to say a given sentence. It certainly was not a barrier to listening to the book, just felt a little odd.

Helpful primer, odd narrating style
