Not what I expected from a “Clive Cussler” book. I’ve read most of his books and was looking for the most recent. But, after the first few chapters it was clear this was not the same as I expected.

this book brought back many memories of my teen years growing up during the Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford presidencies and watching Walter Cronkite report the news on the CBS evening news. listening to this book filled in many holes in my recollection of the events that took place. I love this country which these president's all led through so very difficult times. thanks to people like Clint Hill we have a record of events from a first person's perspective.

He draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of remembering, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human memory. I really liked the chance to hear someone express opinions so clearly, using the English language so adeptly. Even if I didn't agree with his opinions I absolutely loved how he got his message across. It was also enjoyable to hear short little editorials or testimonies in little spurts and be able to listen in spare minutes here and there. There were many things to think about how our government works or a reaction so a national event, or person. A lot to think about.

In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.
