Tragic & hopeful-brilliantly told

This was the most powerful fiction book I’ve read in a long time. From the very beginning, I was “in” the story. It was brilliantly written, thoughtfully told.

I uncomfortably listened to this book as a long time resident of Chicago.
I worked on the South Side for many years and tried to close my eyes to the black-white-brown racism around me—
Wow- this book is an eye opener-
Since this book was published in 2016, and I listened to it in 2024, I wish that the author would do an updated version to reflect the changes in Chicago in the past 8 years.

The story started a little slow, but as time went on it was so wonderful tale of people becoming friends with people who aren’t just like themselves read it you’ll love it.

This was fascinating and I loved her honest descriptions of searching for science in all corners of the earth.
To all those who complained about the author expressing her political views and STATING the facts about the 45.
Somewhere in your deepest soul, I hope that you someday come to the realization that 45 was the WORST ever. His disregard for the earth and it’s people is disgusting, and it will take scientists to show us the interconnectedness of ALL systems and how we must save this world we call home.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Brilliant look at a very dangerous man
Reviewed: 11-23-22
I highly recommend this book to anyone who really wants to get into the mind of Donald Trump. He’s a very dangerous man, he’s a very delusional man. His world is all about him, and nothing else. I almost felt sorry for him in certain spots in this audio “book”. I believe that listening to this audio actually gives you a better idea of how he thinks, and how he acts on his own delusions. He is so filled with his own self interest in his insecurities, that he should’ve never been elected president of anything.

When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.
