About this listen
“The most memorable contribution to this year’s American political literature, however, was not a printed book. The Trump Tapes…is an audio collection that offers a passport to the heart of darkness.”—The Guardian
“An uncharacteristic warning from one of the most respected, non-partisan journalists in the world”—Jake Tapper, CNN
“It was riveting. I couldn’t get enough of it.”—Gayle King, CBS Mornings
The Trump Tapes explodes with the exclusive, inside story of Trump’s performance as president—in his own words as he is questioned, even interrogated by Woodward, on the president’s key responsibilities from managing foreign relations to crisis management of the coronavirus pandemic.
This is the job Trump seeks again. How did he do the first time? This is the authentic answer, laying bare his repeated failures, obsessions, and grievances.
The Woodward interviews take a listener to a reporter’s laboratory meticulously examining the Trump presidency like never before—spellbinding and devastating.

Story
On January 6, 2021, insurgents stormed the U.S. Capitol, an act of domestic terror without parallel in American history, designed to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power. In a resolution six months later, the House of Representatives called it "one of the darkest days of our democracy," and established a special committee to investigate how and why the attack happened. Celadon Books, in collaboration with The New Yorker, presents the committee's final report, the definitive account of January 6th and what led up to it.

Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

Story
Packed with new reporting, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party tracks Trump’s improbable journey from disgraced and defeated former president to the dominant force, yet again, in the Republican Party. From his exile in Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump has become more extreme, vengeful, and divorced from reality than he was on January 6, 2021. His meddling damaged the GOP’s electoral prospects for third consecutive election in 2022. His legal troubles are mounting. Yet he re-emerged as the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Story
Donald Trump will be president again, whether he is on the ballot or not. That is because Trumpism is overtaking the Republican Party and will mount a vigorous comeback, potentially in the hands of a savvier successor. This prophecy will come true, according to Miles Taylor, if we do not learn the lessons of the recent past. With the 2024 election approaching, the formerly “Anonymous” official is back with bombshell revelations and a sobering national forecast. Taylor predicts what could happen inside “Trump 2.0,” the White House of a more competent and more formidable copycat.

Only 60 hours were actually made public in the 1970s. Many thousands of hours remained secret and Nixon's hands, and he fought fiercely to keep them that way right up to his death.

Story
In the year leading up to the Iowa caucuses, few thought a freshman senator named Barack Hussein Obama would be able to win the Democratic nomination - not to mention become the most popular leader in the world. But something was stirring. Hundreds of young people from all over the country began assembling first in Iowa. These "kids" became the foundation of one of the most improbable presidential campaigns of the modern era. Chris Liddell-Westefeld was one of those kids. He and thousands of other staff and volunteers dedicated their time, intelligence, and resources to help elect Barack Obama.

Baltimore Congressman Elijah Cummings was known for saying, “We’re better than this.” He said it in Baltimore, a city on the verge of explosion over police treatment of citizens. He said it in Congress when microphones were shut down, barring free speech. He said it when the president flaunted his power and ignored the Constitution. He said it when the president resorted to bullying, name-calling, and feeding racial divisions. We are better than this. He continued to say it until his final days last October.

It always is better to hear it from the horses mouth and Trump did a great job of clearing up any questions of his inability to handle keeping the people safe.
I felt very frustrated listening to Mr. Woodward trying to keep DT on a cohesive train of thought. If you have any questions of the type of person DT is the tapes will lift the cloud for you as to who he really is.

Wow! Woodward tries really hard to actually get donny to answer germain questions, but donny just keeps repeating the same bs over and over and over. I always knew donny was self-centered, but I hadn't realized that its ALL THE TIME! Ive read Woodward's other books about donny so I was glad to hear the tapes, a lot of it I expected but donny's comment "its all mine, everything is mine" is the most concerning. I recommend. Note, I could only listen in short amounts as donnys constant whining got on my nerves pretty fast.

A Very Patient Man
While listening to the tapes I realized what a patient man Mr Woodward is! While driving in my car, alone, I would find myself yelling out loud to Trump, “just shut up already and listen to the question!” Trump verified that he is a legend, in his own mind…. This just confirmed the vibes I picked up from him at the very beginning of the first election he ran in was correct! Unstable…. So sad
Bob did a great job throughout all the times interviewing him. Congratulations!
