Story
When three men announce that they are suing the Rosato & DiNunzio law firm for reverse sex discrimination—claiming that they were not hired because they were men—Mary DiNunzio and Bennie Rosato are outraged. To make matters worse, their one male employee, John Foxman, intends to resign, claiming that there is some truth to this case. The plaintiffs’ lawyer is Nick Machiavelli, who has already lost to Mary once and is now back with a vengeance —determined not to not only win, but destroy the firm. It soon becomes clear that Machiavelli will do anything in his power to achieve his end…even after the case turns deadly. The stakes have never been higher for Mary and her associates as they try to keep Machiavelli at bay, solve a murder, and save the law firm they love…or they could lose everything they’ve worked for.

This was an excellent story! I can't say enough good things about FEARED. Lots of emotion and tension and worry for the characters. A thrilling mystery with a twist. Great job, Lisa Scottoline!

Story
Julia Snowden returned to her hometown to rescue her family's struggling clambake business - not to solve crimes. But that was before a catered wedding on picturesque Morrow Island turned into a reception for murder. When the best man's corpse is found hanging from the grand staircase in the Snowden family mansion, Julia must put the chowder pot on the back burner and join the search for the killer. And with suspicion falling on her old crush, Chris Durand, the recipe for saving her business and salvaging her love life might be one and the same…

Clammed Up is a delightful beginning to the Maine Clambake Mystery series by Barbara Ross. From the start I was engrossed by the story and the hurdles before protagonist Julia Snowden in her quest to save her family's clambake. I felt Julia's heartache as her troubles piled up. The reader did a superb job and the book ended with a cliffhanger of the sort that absolutely makes me want to go straight on to book 2 in the series. Highly recommended to cozy mystery readers.

Story
It's 1968. The Cold War is hot, the Vietnam War is raging, and the women's movement is beating a far-distant drum. When Austin Starr's husband decides to protest the war by emigrating from Texas to Canada, she goes along, with the biblical dictate of "whither-thou-goest I will go" ringing in her ears... No activist herself, Austin is homesick, drowning in culture shock, and now, her husband has been accused of murdering a fellow draft resister, the black-sheep son of a U.S. Senator.

Austin Starr is an endearing character who finds herself in plenty of danger as she searches for evidence to clear her husband of murder charges.
What about Tatiana Gomberg’s performance did you like?
I couldn't imagine anyone doing a better job than Tatiana Gomberg did in performing this story.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Moving to Canada with her draft-dodging husband is the biggest event in Austin Starr's life - until her husband lands in jail, accused of murder.
