About this listen

In the new thriller from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline, Mary DiNunzio’s ruthless nemesis Nick Machiavelli is back...with a vengeance.

When three men announce that they are suing the Rosato & DiNunzio law firm for reverse sex discrimination—claiming that they were not hired because they were men—Mary DiNunzio and Bennie Rosato are outraged. To make matters worse, their one male employee, John Foxman, intends to resign, claiming that there is some truth to this case.

The plaintiffs’ lawyer is Nick Machiavelli, who has already lost to Mary once and is now back with a vengeance —determined not to not only win, but destroy the firm. It soon becomes clear that Machiavelli will do anything in his power to achieve his end…even after the case turns deadly. The stakes have never been higher for Mary and her associates as they try to keep Machiavelli at bay, solve a murder, and save the law firm they love…or they could lose everything they’ve worked for. Told with Scottoline's trademark gift for twists, turns, heart, and humanity, this latest thriller asks the question: Is it better to be loved, or feared...

Feared, the sixth entry in the acclaimed Rosato & DiNunzio series, expertly explores what happens when we are tempted to give in to our own inner darkness.

I live these books but have always read them. This is the first one I listened to. I liked the performance ok but had a tough time getting past the voice she used for Judy. It sounded like an old man. Other than that, great book.

Didn’t like the voices.

another great story by this author with little twists throughout but the most unexpected one is the last one and the story. the narrator did a great job and the investigation work by the attorneys was phenomenal to arrive at the conclusions they did. don't Miss listening to this one!! you won't be disappointed

what a surprise ending

I normally don’t like “who done it’s” but I must admit it kept my interest and surprised me. I would’ve rated it higher but an unbelievably stupid decision made by the main character who is an attorney.

Not my favorite but pretty good

I love the Rosato and DiNunzio series and have read all of them. This story, Feared, thoroughly entertained me. There is always drama, mystery, and humor in the stories, but this one really made me laugh aloud at times. Mary’s thoughts on her pregnancy whether shared with other characters or her own inner dialogue were hilarious. The story was fast moving and multi-layered with more than one crisis going on at a time. The firm, as well as Benny, Mary, and Judy are being sued, which could completely destroy them and the firm financially. Kate Burton is the perfect narrator. Burton does an excellent job with all the characters. Lisa Scottoline has woven a story with clever twists and turns. She writes great dialogue, which Burton delivers with skill. Reading the book is like visiting old friends. I highly recommend the book.

Excellent!

Not sure why everyone is saying it's bad narration. Everyone is great except Judy, who sounds like a man...which gets a little confusing as you try to sort her from the other "man" voices.
Anyway, I love the Denunzio family...very fun. Lots of fun moments, and also some very cheesy moments in this one. Still, if you can set them aside, it's a fairly fun listen. So glad that the author has stopped with the awful language.

Narration is fine

I love, Lisa Scottoline, and especially the Rissoto Denunzio books. This was a really good story and I couldn’t put it down. I never would have guessed the ending. Having grown up in Bucks County PA, I love all the references to Philadelphia and the area.

Scottoline has you guessing from the beginning to the end.
