Story
At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Story
After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. But Calaena is far from loyal to the crown. Keeping up the charade - while pretending to do the king's bidding - will test her skills in an entirely new way. And it certainly isn't the only point of confusion for the young girl. Because though she's made her choice between Dorian and Chaol, the ways of the heart are never simple...

Not my favourite fantasy series, but quiet addictive. There are a lot of cheesy and nonsensical moments that would make any high fantasy reader cringe, but it's a great quick read.

As per usual Marsters is an amazing narrator. My only con in it all was that the story seemed to go in a lot of directions at times and got confusing.

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Recent examples: A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards...Hit men using Harry for target practice...The missing Shroud of Turin - and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss.

Very epic beginning to a series.

I must say that I've read and heard a lot of opinions about this book. Some love the heck out of it, while others hate it. Then there's readers like me who think that it was a great read, but I understand why people aren't too fond of the characters. Everyone seems moody. While some people say Caelaena is a "badass" she, at times, came off very bitter and irritating.
Which is where I believe the lines are drawn for the love/hate relationship of this book. The overall story is very good and fast paced. I devoured it in a day.
I hope that as the series goes on I can warm up to one character at least.

Story
This stunning debut novel from Australian author Lucy Christopher generated considerable buzz for its nonstop suspense and breathtaking imagery. Sixteen-year-old Gemma is on a layover at Bangkok Airport, headed to Vietnam with her parents. Then the vaguely familiar Ty drugs Gemma’s drink and steals her away. Her head swirling in confusion, Gemma soon finds herself fighting to survive in the unforgiving Outback.

With unforgettable characters, a sweeping backdrop, and passionate storytelling, this is a fantasy debut to rival that of Robert Jordan. Filled with adventure and bloodshed, pageantry and piracy, mystery and menace, Assassin's Apprentice is the story of a royal house and the young man who is destined to chart its course through tempests of change.

If Hobbs writing wasn't so detailed and eloquent in her descriptions of the politics for the throne. I probably would have given up on this book because of the performance of the narrator. He wasn't bad, but characters seemed very flat.

Story
Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about - his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. Vin diPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he's good with that - until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking Harley-riding, self-professed savior.

I've never been into romance/erotic novels, but this series came highly recommended and I can see why now. It's not just a romance novel, but very detailed in its fantasy writing and character background.
