Find myself saying good job a lot when I hear these podcast conversations!!
The authors you have are awesome.
Your skill at bringing their concepts to actual life (with applicable examples) makes ALL the difference in the world and that is what a podcast should be.
. …Yes, there are aha moments too. Having listened to your book, I do pick up on many things that I wouldn’t have before.
Keep doing what you’re doing!!!

Story
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

I wanted to love it.

How do I say this? Louise Penny-and inspector Gamache books are truly something I treasure and have always followed.
Yes, going from the first books’ narrator to Robert Bathurst was initially difficult but only bc I missed Gamache all over again. And yes, I understand Louise needed to find someone with an authentic Quebec accent. But. I’m so sad to say I did not enjoy this book. In fact, if I didn’t have such loyalty to the series, I might have given up and just read the hard copy. I didn’t have that luxury though.
The narrator tries, but I had the hardest time discerning characters and if there were more than one speaking in a conversation.
I don’t know how to explain.. but I won’t buy the next audiobook, I’ll stick with the hard copy. And hope it’s a better example of Three Pines family members. Miss them.

Huge fan of Thursday murder club! Great book. The first two especially. HOWEVER, I had to buy the Kindle version of book three and four! Now I try and find time to read versus listen because I cannot handle even one chapter of this new narrator!!
As a many years audible subscriber, I really hope that the author and team read the reviews and understand they should re-record three and four with the previous narrator. Excellent books and concept, but audible versions need the support of a great narrator to keep it authentic. I’m sorry.

I’m only sad that the book is over and I have to wait for another Vera story. It seems she’s become a familiar lovable character with the rest of the characters helping to reflect her unique style. I hope Ann Cleeves continues Vera stories because she’s not angry, she’s not perfect, and she can be surprisingly funny and enjoyable. Vera mystery stories are always intelligent plots without being convoluted or pretentious. Oh, I Love the narration, too!

Story
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.
