Story
Nobel Prize-winning scientist Sarah Collier has taken a step back from work to spend more time with her family. Movie nights with her husband Daniel and their daughter Maddie are a welcome respite from the scrutiny of the world’s press. As much as it hurts, it’s good to be able to see her father more too. He’s suffering from Alzheimer’s and needs special care. Sarah has started to show tell-tale signs of the disease too. She’s been experiencing blackouts and memory loss. It’s early days but she must face the possibility that she won’t be there to see her daughter grow up.

Just No

This is such a goofy read! I tried in good faith to get through it, but just no. If you need beach or airport amusement, this might do the trick, but high art it clearly isn’t. On par with Jilly Cooper, (who does it better.)

Not a Popcorn or Airplane Book-Skip
Reviewed: 03-09-25
What a terrible book. The female reader consistently read in a whiny, aggressive tone, and her character was supremely unlikable right out of the gate. This character dominates the story and the female reader’s tone makes listening unbearable. It’s worrying if this is a representation of how the author views women in general. David Tennant was not featured nearly enough, and most assuredly would have saved the whole production if he had been featured more. The basis of this story has been told a thousand times and in a thousand better ways, Black Mirror comes to mind immediately as one example. Skip this book, David may be on the cover, but it’s a ruse, he’s barely featured and what you have to endure to get to him, isn’t worth it.

Too Much Screaming
Reviewed: 01-02-24
Joe Hill is a fantastic writer and this, like so many of his other works, is a fascinating story. However, like many other reviews, 90% of the dialogue in this audio presentation is screaming. One character literally screams all their lines, while another talks a mile a minute before they launch into screaming. It’s incredibly off putting and makes difficult to maintain your place in the story when the characters are screaming at each other in regular intervals and nothing is happening in the plot to warrant this. This is probably one story you are better off reading than listening to.

Story
Armed with the emotional mayhem inherited from their parents as well as compounded pressures involving a depraved headmaster, clandestine affairs, and Victoria's male-hating mother, The Children of the Roses presents a gripping story of the lengths to which parents will go to protect their children. Little more than a child herself, Josh's ever-sympathetic and overstuffed sister, Evie, lavishes her "food is love" obsession on her beloved niece and nephew, who are coping with their own sense of loss.

Wonderful Story, Horrible Narration
Reviewed: 08-28-22
If you are familiar with the movie of the first novel, then you will love the story. Horrible narration. Unedited mistakes and outtakes of narrator exist starting in chapter 4 and are jarring. No your app is not broken, this was a completely unedited narration.

Thinking carefully before purchasing this audiobook. The plot (if there was one) is incomprehensible. If you prefer to hear 4 separate novels, then you will be just fine. This is not the sort of audiobook you can have on in the background while doing something else. There is no warning when the book changes and unless you are exclusively dedicating your time to this audiobook, you will get lost. Too much time is spent discussing characters relatives who play no significant part in

An excellent story. Well written and paced. The narrator spoke with a lisp pronouncing some characters names through 90% of the story and this becomes incredibly tedious to endure.
