Story
In this riveting memoir, Wade challenges Africans to redefine their narrative, casting aside imposed inferiority to reclaim their innate brilliance. This is not a recounting of poverty and politics. It's an indictment of a world that views Africa as nothing more than a colonial chessboard, with charity acting as the block that keeps Africans stuck. The surprising truth: Africa’s problems are not due to colonialism, corruption, bad leadership, poor skills, or a lack of education. It’s something much bigger, and yet it’s only been visible to entrepreneurs...until now.

Doing business in Africa the right way
Reviewed: 04-27-24
I have done NGO work in Africa for 7 years, and trying to do it “the right way” through empowerment and not parachute projects. I really appreciated Ms Wade’s empowered voice for her continent. I am definitely signing up to be part of the Cheetah generation and encouraging all our local leaders to read her book as well to join this force for good. I also envision that as we use these principles to empower people, we will lift the world as a whole.

Story
This book is about pleasure. It’s also about pain. Most important, it’s about how to find the delicate balance between the two, and why now more than ever finding balance is essential. We’re living in a time of unprecedented access to high-reward, high-dopamine stimuli: drugs, food, news, gambling, shopping, gaming, texting, sexting, Facebooking, Instagramming, YouTubing, tweeting....

As a fellow therapist, I appreciated the info. However, the reading was kind of dry.

Story
For the first time in a single volume, Jennifer Mackley chronicles the development of temple doctrine and ceremonies over the course of the 19th century: from washings and anointings to proxy baptisms, the endowment to plural marriage sealings, and the first rebaptism to the last priesthood adoption.

Cleared up some history

Fascinating history. Good reading, though I wanted a bit more inflections at times. I had rewind quite a few times to re-hear what I missed because my ears began to only hear to the rhythmic patterns of his voice instead of the story.

Story
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

I have been completely drawn in to her life and how her experiences have shaped her. I loved listening to her narrate this. As she said a few times in her book, “It was perfect.”
