He looks at one small part of it and it is quite interesting, but walking away from this and thinking you knoe all about strategic bombing theory would be wrong- he omits over 20 years of writers and doesn't even give a hat tip to such creators of the theory such as Douhet, Trenchard, or Mitchell.

There were long parts of this I thought "you could have deleted that" and really, it could have been over 5 hours shorter, But the reader is so good and Rowling's writing so smooth. it's all good.

Fahrenheit 451 Audiobook By Ray Bradbury cover art

Would you listen to Fahrenheit 451 again? Why?

This was the type of book that makes one think and should be read and reread by everyone. It is a world one could easily see us heading towards and really makes you think.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Clearly Montag since he asked

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

In general it was good- but OMG! When he does Montag's wife, he sounds exactly like the Jimmy Fallon character of the girl who goes ewwww. SO distracting.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All of it....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would have added more details about aviation, that was pretty light. I felt like it was written from a tour at a museum and some old movies, did not really give me a strong sense of the planes and era (I should add I'm an early aviation historian so I might come in with more knowledge than others and what was provided might be enough for lay people). That lack of depth also turned Gil into a bit of a cliche

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It was quite enjoyable, that doesn't need fixing. Maybe more romance.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

He was a good reader whose performance did not get in the way of the story- you know how sometimes you listen to a book going "ooo, good voice, like what he's doing with that part of the story," This one blended into the background. Except at the change of chapters. Each time he started a new chapter, his voice was stronger and sounded like a different reader. I actually looked to see if it was a two narrator book.

Do you think The Flying Circus needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, all loose ends were tied up

Any additional comments?

The problem with the book was Henry set himself up as an unreliable narrator and while it comes out why, you still doubt everything he says and the book feels untrustworthy so when you get to the end, it feels a bit shallow.

Season of Storms Audiobook By Susanna Kearsley cover art

What did you like best about Season of Storms? What did you like least?

The pacing of this one was odd. Moved sooo slow and I kept sitting there thinking "what is the point of this book?" But I appreciated she didn't do the time travel thing. Still would have been nice for more in the book- for the first 90% it was "my spring in Italy in this amazing house" and then the last 10% was cloak and dagger and mystery.

I did like how the world of the house was created, but a little less house, more story

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Moved the story faster. Or put more of in into the rest of the book.

Have you listened to any of Carolyn Bonnyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First one

Could you see Season of Storms being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Could be a good movie because location would be awesome. But it could also get farcey.

Any additional comments?

Liked it but not as much as her other books. This is for a Kearsley fan, not someone testing to see if she likes her.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would edit it. Dang it was long and took forever to get anywhere.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sarah Waters? Why or why not?

Maybe?

Was The Paying Guests worth the listening time?

Not really. It was a good story and did not go where I thought it was going to go, but took too long to get anywhere.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a really interesting book although the end unraveled a bit too quickly like "ooops, need to wrap now!" I really like Suzanne Kearsley books but they become too formulaic if you read them all at once so it was really nice not to have the time travel aspect for once. Although I do love the time travel in the other books, it just gets too repetitive.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Splendour Falls?

I really liked how you were placed in the city of Chinon

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her voice was all wrong, much too old

Did The Splendour Falls inspire you to do anything?

Return to Chinon

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was a good book, however there's a lot of french in it. I can read french, but it was quite annoying to miss major plot points because they were read in french, Would have been useful, if not true to the book, to translate.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Clearly our main character- I like how she took her destiny in her own hands and went for what she wanted.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Davina Porter?

Noone- she's always great

Where does A Discovery of Witches rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I'm still new to the audio book world, but this narrator just grated at me. I thought the story was perfect for an audio book as it was enjoyable to listen to but not deep enough you needed to really think about.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a fun creative story. However, it was annoying that it was written for a trilogy so there was no real end, and the next book isn't out yet. By the time the third one is out, I'm sure I will have forgotten about it as enjoyable as the story was, I'm not counting the days for the next one. If I remember, I'll get it.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jennifer Ikeda?

Anyone! Multiple times I almost gave up listening because of the narrator. Some of her voices, especially the ones with accents, grated. When the next book comes out, if she's the narrator I'll be reading it instead.
