Story
Some places are too good to be true. Under a pink moon, there is a perfect little town not found on any map. In that town, there are quiet streets lined with pretty houses, houses that conceal the strangest things. After a couple years of hard traveling, ex-cop Mona Bright inherits her long-dead mother's home in Wink, New Mexico. And the closer Mona gets to her mother's past, the more she understands that the people of Wink are very, very different....

It Started Out Good

Let me preface this by saying I loved the narrator's voice and style. I found it warm with a nice cadence. Regarding the story, I was completely hooked when I started to listen but that has slowly dissolved away and I'm finding the story to be bizarre and nonsensical, with the subplots being even more nonsensical. I usually like weird but this isn't it. I'm about 30 minutes to finish and it's become a chore to continue.

Story
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

I'm Really Enjoying It

For me, audiobooks are just something to prevent mind numbing boredom while working out and during long car drives. This is one of the few books I fully listen to and regret when the drive is over because I don't generally listen to audiobooks at other times. I also began listening to this with my husband which means I can only continue listening when I'm with him.
I was about 10yrs old when the first version of pong became available, so I've lived with many of the television show and game references in this story and it's really giving me a hoot.

The music too loud and distracting. I have a lot of distortion in my hearing and the music just makes it nearly impossible to for me understand.

Story
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

Great Message
Reviewed: 02-07-18
He has great voice literally and figuratively. The message the author presented was great. The stories he told were inspirational.
But he would talk really fast......and there was a pause. I’d had a better listening experience if he’d talked a tiny bit slower so his individual words would stand out more and the length of his pauses would then match his talking speed.

Story
Perception is the foundation of human experience, but few of us understand why we see what we do, much less how. By revealing the startling truths about the brain and its perceptions, Beau Lotto shows that the next big innovation is not a new technology: It is a new way of seeing. In his first major book, Lotto draws on over two decades of pioneering research to explain that our brain didn't evolve to see the world accurately. It can't!

The narrator’s voice that’s a rumbly quality that makes him hard to understand. Then he talks just a bit too fast. I can only get about a third of what he says.
Not happy about this purchase.
