Story
Over a half century, Malibu went from an untamed ranch in the middle of nowhere to a paradise seeded with movie stars. Behind its transformation is the love story of Frederick and May Rindge. He was a Harvard-trained confidant of presidents; she grew up on a hardscrabble Midwestern farm; yet their unlikely bond would shape history.

Fascinating Untold Story
Reviewed: 02-06-25
As a native and lover of all things historic in Los Angeles this story blew my mind. There are so many who contributed to the building of the LA area and so many untold stories. Grateful this book exists and wish those who contributed so much to LA were more recognized. Grateful to Mae and her family for being able to preserve so much of LA especially our grand coastline - it would carry its beauty today if it weren't for their care and sacrifice. Worthy read to any historian and anyone who cares for Los Angeles and preserving its vast history.

Story
Richard Blade’s autobiography is much more than a spotlight on any one decade. Instead, he gives you a jaw-dropping, uncensored insider’s look into the world of music, movies, and television and its biggest stars, starting in the '60s and continuing through to the new century. Richard takes you on a journey that few have experienced, from his early days as a student at Oxford to the wild, lascivious nights of being a disco DJ touring the clubs of Europe to coming to America and breaking through into the LA radio scene.

Grew up listening to Blade and loved hearing the back story of his life. There will never be another Richard Blade and his mark on radio and LA culture needs to be acknowledged and heard from the rooftops of Sunset Blvd.
