What would have made The Bone Season better?
It was so repetitive and grim, most of the story could have been told in one chapter
What was most disappointing about Samantha Shannon’s story?
I get her premise, but it was so poorly done, on an on about the same thing over and over again and then her explanations were long winded and senseless. Most of it was pointless blah, blah, blah, and even at the end her characters were so underdeveloped, her storyline so thin, I still did not know what her supposed antagonists really were. She left me without any desire to read the second book, it was pretty awful and she left no character likable.
Which scene was your favorite?
The end
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Bone Season?
Most of the pointless middle of the book, I don't want to give the story away but believe me we got it early on, we did not need to be beat over the head.
Any additional comments?
I don't very often leave comments and I read a ton of books, I only comment on what I believe is lacking to the point that I wish I hadn't read/heard it. Had I been sitting still this book would have NEVER been finished, however since I was listening and commuting, not all was lost.
