Story
Noel Fitzwilliam is pitching the most important project of his life - the type of project architects dream of. Everything has to go right, so when he finds the new caterer naked in his office bathroom right before the meeting, he's torn between being thrilled and being extremely irritated. He doesn't have time for romance, no matter how incredible she looks without her clothes on.

Good Book, Predictable

Good book but predictable. The narration was beyond terrible. Overall cute story to listen to while passing the time.

A Definite No Go
Reviewed: 04-30-21
I love this series and I love Penny Reid’s books however this entire book from the story to the politics to the performance was a huge disappointment. If you are reading through the series like me, feel free to skip through this one, you won’t be missing out on anything except that Rosco finds his lady love. What you will get out of this book is irritation with mispronounced words that have no reason to be, as they are typical everyday words... and politics about being anti cop... that incessantly long tirade about cops hating black people and being afraid was just a bit much and went on forever.. and there were 2 separate items in the book this happened! As someone who is married to a white man that works in law enforcement it was incredibly offensive. If the author wanted to make a statement about being black in today’s world I think she could have been much more constructive about it. I didn’t even realize that the main character was black until she was pulled over by the cop- I feel like with how much her side of the story went on and on she could have mentioned some positive things about her culture and not just how she lived her life in fear of white people... it was obvious to me the author is not black and had nothing about “black family life” to actually draw from. And also, in the Sienna Diaz books the narrator has an accent that perpetuates her ethnicity but they didn’t feel that was necessary to do for Simone in this book? There was also very little about the other family members in this book which I have come to love reading through the series. And Jennifer’s mom killed her father?! What?! Don’t just throw that in there without any explanation. Also, Billy is engaged to a girl we’ve never heard about and not Claire? And that girl is cheating on him?! And then you leave us hanging on that with nothing more? Dont even get me started on why this book is all of a sudden several years ahead of the other books, especially since the last two happened concurrently. Between the huge time jump with crazy things that occurred during that time going unexplained , and Rosco’s “memory flashbacks” it was so confusing.
This book was such a let down and I am really hoping the next book is better. They say you don’t have to read these in order and mostly and I agree, but if this had been the only one I read I wouldn’t have bothered with the rest which would be a huge loss.

After a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. She has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane's disdain; therefore she's unprepared for the reality that is Duane's insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica's muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang, the Iron Order.

LOVED IT! The characters were all dynamic and interesting. There was a great story line and mix of suspense, action, romance, comedy.. just all the things! I absolutely fell into the world of Jessica, Duwayne and everyone! I can’t wait for the next book!

Story
Anna-Marie Halsey loves her job as a regular on the soap opera Southern Heat almost as much as she loves living the LA lifestyle: clubbing and partying and casually dating gorgeous men - most recently powerhouse agent Josh Rios. When Anna-Marie starts feeling more-than-casual about Josh - her signature cue to break things off - she finds a much-needed excuse to get away: a family reunion in small-town Wyoming.

Good Story

Good Story, overall pleased with this book but I really had trouble hearing Josh’s narrations in two different voices on ad off throughout the book. I felt like if they were going to have two narrators anyway then why not have the male do the male voices and the female do the female voices? It was so hard thinking of him as this sexy hunk when he sounded like he had adenoids when it was narrated by the female. Also weird that him and the dad had the same exact voice, which in my opinion was just the female narrator plugging her nose when she spoke). Big oversight in my opinion.

Story
Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

Tough Read, but Worth It?
Reviewed: 01-13-21
This was a tough read- I choked through it. That being said, the story was amazing. Ended up being exactly what I look for in a rom com where there is a good amount of predictable but still exciting and surprising where i had some good laughs and cries. However it was so tough to get through! The writer was constantly changing how she wrote each chapter and it was so hard to keep up with that to keep moving along with the story. Constantly changing from first person to third person and wondering why the whole book then realizing some parts were written like a script and some written like a book should be. Then having entire segments written like an email or a group text- the different contexts were just too much and so confusing. It might have been less confusing having the book in front of me, but as an audiobook it just didn’t work. The whole book I was constantly thinking- why does she keep saying interior, exterior? Why is she all of a sudden back to third person? The book is about a script writer, so I think the author was trying to make a play on that, but it just didn’t work.
I think maybe if I expected these odd writing changes before getting into the book I might have enjoyed it more because the story really was good, but I truly felt like I choked through getting it finished because it was so confusing!
The end is cute and I really did love Ben and his daughter Annette- they’re the ones that made me read til the end.
