Story
In Merinac, Kansas, Chicken Mimi's and Chicken Frannie's have spent a century vying to serve up the best fried chicken in the state - and the legendary feud between their respective owners, the Moores and the Pogociellos, has lasted just as long. No one feels the impact more than 35-year-old widow Amanda Moore, who grew up working for her mom at Mimi's before scandalously marrying Frank Pogociello and changing sides to work at Frannie's. Tired of being caught in the middle, Amanda sends an SOS to Food Wars, the reality TV restaurant competition.

I felt Disconnected
Reviewed: 10-01-22
I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks and will continue to read what he puts out there. With that said, I always know how the books will end. This was no different. HOWEVER, there were 2 stories in one and it took a VERY LONG time, like the entire book long, to connect it all. It was very strange, even though I had an idea that the story would play out as it did. With the two story lines, it was a bit disconnected. In addition, the lady reader's animation in her voice as the 2nd character was TOO animated and whiney.

I finished the book just to finish the book and rarely stop listening before book are over. I really disliked it... The story is just out there. It was difficult to get into and the plot was simply unappealing.

Story
From the dramatic redbrick facade to the sweeping staircase dripping with art, the Chelsea Hotel has long been New York City's creative oasis for the many artists, writers, musicians, actors, filmmakers, and poets who have called it home - a scene playwright Hazel Riley and actress Maxine Mead are determined to use to their advantage. Yet they soon discover that the greatest obstacle to putting up a show on Broadway has nothing to do with their art and everything to do with politics. A Red scare is sweeping across America, and Senator McCarthy has started a witch hunt for Communists.
