It’s a list of basic vocabulary in dictionary form,. A transcript would be useful . Sounds quality inadequate. Overpriced.

In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. Little action, character based.
I don’t usually like this genre but this was very well done. Attention to details of the setting & events was meticulous & the characters were well done. The narration was so good but I kept forgetting it was Meryl Streep - she was just in the story.

Not great overall

Good: plot, some characters with potential
Bad: Incomplete characters, plot goes everywhere, too much of the book is narration of thoughts by the protagonist. And those thoughts are all over the map. Someone should hand the protagonist the Sherlock Holmes stories. After some last minute redirection the resolutions of plot & characters piled up at the end like a welcome train wreck.
It was so maddenly only partially gripping that I had to start it over a few times

Story
For Detective Sam Porter, the words "Father, forgive me" conjure memories long forgotten; a past intentionally buried. For Anson Bishop, these three words connect a childhood to the present as he unleashes a truth concealed for decades. Found written on cardboard near each body, these words link multiple victims to a single killer - discovered within minutes of each other in both Chicago and South Carolina - clearly connected yet separated by impossible miles.

I think it’s more of a one - credit book, not a three-credit series.
The story was decent.
Narrators outstanding.

Historical events. Not cliché
Reviewed: 06-12-24
Narration & music excellent. Description of settings & events made them imaginable. Characters were not really developed but were developed enough.
They weren’t as realistic or memorable as the action. The action held my interest.
Now I have to read a nonfiction about these events.

Story
With his epic novels of alternate history, Harry Turtledove shares a stunning vision of what might have been - and what might still be - if one moment in history were changed. In the Worldwar and Colonization series, an ancient, highly advanced alien species found itself locked in a bitter struggle with a distant, rebellious planet: Earth. For those defending the Earth, this all-out war for survival supercharged human technology, made friends of foes, and turned allies into bitter enemies.

Very different from the other 3, or 7, preceding books
Reviewed: 03-31-24
It was too dull, repetitive & predictable. It was more repetitive than other books - almost copy paste from prior books or even prior chapters. A little action & one unsurprising twist & dull/predictable voyages & characters underwent predictable or uninteresting change. It was not at all typical of this author. Narrator required 1.3 speed & hissed a lot.

The narrator was weaker than for World War. Too much hissing. Made the choice to cough after reading that a character gave a cough. There are different coughs in the story but the narrator had just one & it was gross & also superfluous.
Slow narrator - I went to 1.2 speed & was able to puzzles .
The usual from Turtledove unpredictable action& some great characters- repetitive as usual - mark of a good teacher which he has been.

Story
In 1942, Hitler led the world's most savage military machine. Stalin ruled Russia while America was just beginning to show its strength in World War II. Then, in Harry Turtledove's brilliantly imagined Worldwar saga, an alien assault changed everything. Nuclear destruction engulfed major cities, and the invaders claimed half the planet before an uneasy peace could be achieved.

I was very happy the narrator stopped coughing when a character coughed. Kind of gross.

Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

As usual Alanson is a terrific storyteller & Bray’s range of voices & manner of narration to reflect the mood & he’s remained consistent. It’s another great Ex Force story. A lot of great characters were killed off in #15 but I trust Alanson can make more. I did wonder in 1-15 if the original thread to the Elders would appear. Also whatever’s going on with the Verds is not finished. I heard 16 & 17 were to be written more or less together so that should all work out.
The only one of the series I gave up on was “Homefront” the theatrical performance. Didn’t work for me.
Great job everyone!
