Story
After the death of her father, Georgiana Hartley returns home to England - only to be confronted with the boorish advances of her cousin. Knowing no one, she flees to Dominic Ridgely's estate, hoping the nobleman will bestow a neighborly kindness upon her. The viscount hears Georgiana's plea to find her a position as a lady's companion with barely concealed ill humor. A lovely innocent such as Miss Hartley subjected to that wretched existence?

I was in the mood for a period romance and I thought this one sounded interesting. It was ok, but predictable. I ended up becoming annoyed toward the end. I was 18 once and I hope that I was not that stupid.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the story and highly recommend it to everyone. The suspense was gripping and I felt like I was standing in the room watching the scenes unfold before my eyes. It was as though I became a character in the story. I found myself supporting things I normally wouldn't and relishing in them. Very strange. Buy it, you won't regret it. But you will question yourself....

Surrounded by treachery, her enemies indistinguishable from her allies, she can be certain of only one thing: as All Hallows' Eve approaches, her time is running out.

Wow! I loved this book! Yes you are left hanging....but that's what makes it so good. I can't wait for the next book to come out. If I read Ms. Moning's website correctly there are only two more books left in the series. I appreciated how she rehashed all of the subplots and introduced us to the next step in her story. I get the feeling that Mac must hit rock bottom before she bounces back to save the day.

The voices of the characters were very entertaining and the storyline was quite good. The only problem I had with it was that it did tend to drone on and on a bit. It was ridiculous how many times the main character turned down a marriage proposal!
