Story
It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

This story was well written and flowed nicely...Not a dull moment and very "believable " given the details of the original trilogy... Really hope there is a movie and a follow up book...

Free original, so I never have too high expectations...The production was great
...Bill from Dr Who was a pleasant surprise, and all of the actors were great...The stories were fine, they just ended abruptly in some cases...Also I feel they would have been better seen than read, but still, for the price, enjoyable...

Story
Zane Obispo spends every day exploring the sleeping volcano in his backyard. "The Beast", as he calls it, is the one place where he can escape other kids, who make fun of him because he has a limp and walks with a cane. After a plane crashes into The Beast, a mysterious girl named Brooks shows up at Zane's doorstep, insisting that they meet at the volcano, where she will reveal a terrible secret. Zane agrees. Brooks tells him that the volcano is actually a centuries-old prison for the Mayan god of death, whose destiny is directly tied to Zane's.

Solid All Around

This book was very much written in the same formula Rick Riordan used before he got overly political. I really enjoyed this book. It's always entertaining to hear about a new set of "gods" and mythology, as I was unfamiliar with Aztec lore. This book was easy to read with no real dead points...There were enough characters to get to fully know, but not too many to make your head spin. The narrator was also very solid and a good fit to the story. I haven't read JC Cervantes before but definitely will read more by her going forward.

This book started a tad slow and I almost gave up after 3 chapters...I'm very glad I did not as things picked up right then. I really enjoyed this book. I was new to this author, but will definitely be looking into more of her works...She did a fantastic job of developing a world. This story made me laugh out loud, made me emotionally hurt, and all emotions in between...The narrator, Robin Miles, has proven to be my favorite since I joined audible...She is amazing and delivered a flawless performance...

Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

Story
The formerly glorious god Apollo, cast down to earth in punishment by Zeus, is now an awkward mortal teenager named Lester Papadopoulos. In order to regain his place on Mount Olympus, Lester must restore five Oracles that have gone dark. But he has to achieve this impossible task without having any godly powers and while being duty-bound to a confounding young daughter of Demeter named Meg. Thanks a lot, Dad. With the help of some demigod friends, Lester managed to survive his first two trials, one at Camp Half-Blood, and one in Indianapolis, where Meg received the Dark Prophecy.

Not sure if it's me or Apollo...
Reviewed: 04-10-19
I thoroughly enjoyed the Percy Jackson series...I absolutely loved the Kane Chronicles...I was a huge fan of the Heroes of Olympus series...This series and the 2nd and 3rd installments of Magnus Chase have lost me...I have found The Trials of Apollo just plain silly more often than not and its attempts at incorporating all pop culture a bit overreaching...In the previous series' mentioned before, Rick did a good job of humanizing "gods" but still allowing them their godliness...Apollo is absolutely too dumbed down if you will...There is very little action in this book, just rambling set ups and brief encounters...I have considered maybe it's me and that maybe I have outgrown the genre, but can't go so far as to say that as I still enjoy many other series for this same age range...While the Magnus Chase series took on a political soap box tone, this series doesn't even do that...I was hesitant to even purchase book 3 after books 1 & 2, but foolishly thought things would pick up...I was wrong...Also, Robbie Draymond isn't a favorite of mine, but, in this case, his silly tone matches the silliness of the main character...So either things have really gone down, or "It's not you, it's me" Rick...

Just ok...Politics rising, plot falling...
Reviewed: 03-28-19
The trilogy started off strong and was a decent trilogy, but each one was a little weaker than the previous...So much of YA is enjoyable because of the lack of adult themes, but this series became more and more immersed in them...I get as kids age they will face more life situations, but these seemed forced...Hey, his platform though so he gets to use it, right? Also found it beyond silly that it all came down to an insult contest...Overall I found it ironic that as the social and political issues advanced, the plot became more juvenile...Good thing this is the last installment, otherwise it would go from really good (1st book), to just ok (this book), to unbearable...
