Story
When she is forced to leave her beloved Prince Edward Island to attend Lakeside Ladies Academy after the death of her parents, the last thing Adelaide Rose MacNeill expects to find is three kindred spirits. The “Ladies of the Lake,” as the four girls call themselves, quickly bond like sisters, vowing that wherever life takes them, they will always be there for each other. But that is before: Before love and jealousy come between Adelaide and Dorothy, the closest of the friends.

Great start, steep decline

Some obvious and implausible plot lines, but I still enjoyed it until the author began to beat me over the head with religion .

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Narrator brings story to life

I like the strength of Violet and the world building with dragons. And Xaden is a very compelling love interest! But the real star of this production is the narrator Rebecca Soler. She absolutely brings the story and characters to life. Highly recommend!

This grabbed me immediately, due in large part to Joanne Froggat’s performance. She didn’t just read, she acted the parts. Brilliant collaboration!

Story
Margot and James are broken up—for good this time. James made sure of it when he dropped the bomb on Margot: that he doesn’t want kids, ever. Then, on the biggest morning of his life, James—an ambitious lawyer at a high-powered firm—wakes up pregnant. He realizes with dread that he is part of a recent epidemic of men suddenly and inexplicably becoming pregnant. His condition obvious to the higher-ups, James is denied the promotion he was expecting, sending him reeling.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I can’t recommend this book as an Audible experience enough!! Ray Porter gives one of the best narrations I’ve ever enjoyed, and I believe he elevates the already masterful storytelling to a higher level. I also came out of this book with more scientific knowledge, and it never once felt dry. Bravo!!

This is not the story of preppers with stockpiles of food, weapons, and a hidden bunker. This is the story of Colton Ryman, his stay-at-home wife, Madison, and their teenage daughter, Alex. In 36 Hours, the Ryman family and the rest of the world will be thrust into the darkness of a post-apocalyptic world.

Commercial for right wing politics, sprinkled with name dropping, racism and bigotry. He tries to fit in a survival story amongst that, but it's clearly secondary.
