Story
Lindsay and Kerrie Ann are sisters who have known hardship from an early age. Without guidance from their neglectful mother, their only aid came from an unlikely source, a retired exotic dancer by the name of Miss Honi Love. When the girls' mother was sent to prison, Miss Honi tried unsuccessfully to save them from being separated and sent into foster care. Thirty years later, Lindsay is still trying to reconnect with her sister.

an "eye roll" novel
Reviewed: 08-01-23
The novel was predictable and corny. The characters lacked depth and seemed very fakey. I almost wanted to pull for the "bad guys".
I feel like the author is a little out of touch, with boomer racist energy.
The narrator didn't help anything. There was a lot of places I felt like she got the tone and inflection wrong. She used the same voice for most characters, but the few that were different were cringey or comical.

I wanted more

Very good book. I enjoyed the writing style, and the storyline kept me interested.
My critique is that I wish there was more. More descriptions. more conversations. more thoughts. I would have loved an afterword. I felt the ending was cut too short.
