About this listen

Lindsay and Kerrie Ann are sisters who have known hardship from an early age. Without guidance from their neglectful mother, their only aid came from an unlikely source, a retired exotic dancer by the name of Miss Honi Love. When the girls' mother was sent to prison, Miss Honi tried unsuccessfully to save them from being separated and sent into foster care.

Thirty years later, Lindsay is still trying to reconnect with her sister. The owner of a bookstore in the sleepy California seaside town of Blue Moon Bay, she was lucky enough to have been adopted by a loving couple. Unbeknownst to her, Kerrie Ann has suffered a very different life. Bounced from one foster home to the next, she ran away as a teenager before becoming a drug-addicted single mother. Now, newly sober, Kerrie Ann is fighting to regain custody of the little girl who was taken from her.

Neither sister's expectations are met when they're finally reunited. But as the two sisters engage in the fiercest battles of their lives, they are at last drawn together despite their differences, restoring belief in the unshakable bond of family.

Well written, suspenseful and loving

I really enjoyed reading this book. The development of the characters was excellent, the story itself was very interesting and suspenseful at times. And beautiful descriptions which made you feel like you were there, I could see the bookstore completely.

I spent every possible second reading! Devoured book in barely over a day. Real page turner! Couldn't wait to know what happened next.

overall good

This kept my attention and I could do other things while listening. I enjoyed the Miss Honey character a lot. The story is a bit predictable, but like a Hallmark Movie, you feel all is well at the end.

Loved It!!!

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this book but I gave it a chance and I am so glad I did. No dead parts, well written, very realistic. The pace was perfect!!!

Could have been fantastic

The book wasn't bad, but certainly not great. The premise of two sisters having been separated into the foster care system and finding each other later on in life was a given deja-vu, and I was hoping for a bit more insights of the sisters' life during and after the foster care. Overall, the book reads well, but the author couldn't help herself, to be politically correct, as in reminding the reader to take care of the planet, to embrace all races, etc. That being said, the author concentrated more on the boyfriends of the sisters, and the flamboyant wardrobe of their caretaker who is now a moved-in adopted relative, than what should have been the core of the story. The story ends a bit flat, with a modern they-lived -happily ever after. The writing is simple and packed with cliches, so you won't learn anything from this book, it won't traumatize you. It is a good, average book to read should you want to tickle your mystery-thriller needs. Some bad language. The book came from the Plus Catalog, and I would recommend reading it, but would not want to use a credit for it.

A nice story

This was a nice story. I found myself rooting for the characters because they truly deserved a break.
A few odd bits that missed the proofreading process, and some awkward character voices, but overall a good audiobook.

Loved it except for one annoying voice

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was Dwight’s voice (Lindsey‘s attorney). It was unnatural and weird. He doesn’t have a big part though so I would still recommend it.

Meh.

The story is OK, although neither main character is particularly likable. It was included with the audible membership, so it’s worth a listen (since it’s free)!

Three heroin is a bitch.

The story was interesting until the heroin misjudges the man she likes and is a total bitch to him. She won't even listen to his side if the story He, then, becomes a total pussy and begs for her too come back to him. Yuck and gross!! I couldn't even finish it.
