The story was great. I read it myself before it became available on Audible. The narrator sounded like he was freezing to death half the time he read the book. Like, involuntarily shivering in his voice. He got me shivering a few times as I was driving around listening and doing my job, and it's a little chilly up here in Alaska this time of year.

The book is transferred from C.D.s. As the narrator reads, his voice trails off and you lose integral parts of the story. The random trailing off makes it more difficult to follow because the style of language is from the 1600s, as was the author.

For those complaining about the book being too political, it's about Ron DeSantis and how he shook up politics.
I found it to be entertaining and informative. He speaks a little about his upbringing and education, but mostly about what he saw wrong in the republican party and the disconnect between the people electing them and the representatives. He also honors his wife in the things he says about her.
He also speaks about how he and his team negotiated the Covid Pandemic as Governor of Florida and still preserved constitutional rights.
I think he would make a good presidential candidate.

There were a few typos. One that I caught was talking about Mapp VS. Ohio in Chapter 11. It stated that it was decided in 1886. The case was decided in 1961. This is basically a college text book, but I can only assume that it was the narrator that kept me from zoning in and out too much.

I don't know which direction the author was going with the book. Maybe the point was to only show the psychology of totalitarianism, and not how to prevent it or take a stand for or against it.
In the book he notes that Laura Schultz lifted a school bus off of her grandson with one hand and pulled him from under the tire with the other. Everything else I read said it was a Buick. It's no less impressive, but it made me question what other mistakes were made in the book.
I was going to say that it was narrated poorly, but I don't think there are many ways to read it and keep someone's attention.

I was glad to hear Eddie's side of the story. It was hard to follow sometimes because whole paragraphs were repeated, or the narrator would be stopped mid-sentence and then it would continue on a different sentence.

This novel is the start to the Sackett Clan. It goes into historical detail, and expresses vivid details of what the characters see. The story takes you on an adventure and you can almost smell the pine trees in the forest of the wilderness, and the musty smell of the swamp.
The narrator brings the story to life in the tone that he reads it.

This book was awesome. The wholesomeness of friendship and family that was conveyed was very inspiring. The friendships that the protagonist; James Reese, shared were the kind that any good guy would covet.
The expertise and experience of the author, were utilized to weave together a suspenseful and realistic story.

Chuck Norris researched for this book. He covers many points, and shows you how the United States founders were men of faith. He also speaks on healthy eating and living. If you're one of the people who appreciates historical revision this book isn't for you.

This book was a good story from an elite soldier. It's a book I could let my young son read that would impart values of being a man, without all the foul language. It shows a look into the complexity of being a family man and a warrior.
