I loved it ! clean, wholesome and real

I didn't know what to expect but as a Christian woman I wanted a story of strength risk family faith and love. this fed my soul and I found myself feeling for all the characters traveling on the arduous journey out west.
given what we really about the sordid history or westward expansion and native American history the story did not gloss over those details. it put it into a perspective of a mother who feared risking everything she knew for a chance at hope. knowing the dangers and realities, the trials her family would face.
the love story that builds is patient, protective and pursuing. like God's love for us.

Story
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

I loved everything about this book! the fiddle music playing at the introduction of chapters, cherry Jones performance and the vivid detail that made me feel like I was living in the little house in the big woods alongside Laura Mary Caroline maw and paw.

NEED TO GET THE NEXT BOOK ASAP

this story is everything and more. its thrilling frightening suspenseful heartbreaking, it has you rooting and crying for all the characters who are so diverse and real. it grips you immediately from book 1.
there are hard themes that are present in post apocalyptic settings making it uncomfortable to listen to sometimes. I found myself feeling for the characters in every scenario thinking to myself "what would I do?" it definitely gets you thinking.
narrator is awesome and adds to the atmosphere setting the scenes for our characters.
get this! you will not regret it!
