Story
Gemma James is adjusting to professional and personal changes - and a future now intricately entwined with Duncan Kincaid. But her new responsibilities are put to the test when she is placed in charge of a particularly brutal homicide: The lovely young wife of a wealthy antiques dealer has been found murdered on fashionable Notting Hill. This case sets off warning bells for Duncan: It's far too similar to an unsolved murder in which an antiques dealer was killed in precisely the same way.

Two spellbinding mysteries, one contemporary, and one ancient - that will challenge Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James as no case ever has. Glastonbury is a town revered as the mythical burial place of King Arthur, and, according to New Age followers, a source of strong Druid power. Something terrible and bloody shattered Glastonbury Abbey's peace long ago - and now it is about to spark a violence that will reach forward into the present.

Tediously slow and unbelievable behavior in a key character
Reviewed: 06-20-23
NOTHING happens in this book until the last 10 %. Chapter after chapter after chapter of mental anguishing in one of the main characters with unbelievable poor decisions made by her…she doesn’t immediately share the sudden strange threatening texts she gets with her loving husband because she doesn’t want to worry him???? Telling your wonderful spouse that you “share everything with “ that you just got a scary text would the the FIRST thing you would do.
It ruined any chance of a good book to have a supposedly competent professional main character be SO pathologically psychologically paralyzed

Best of the 3

I read the first two books in the series, and listened to the third. I have loved Fiona Shaw on TV. I enjoyed this audiobook with her narrating tremendously, but I had never listened to the first two books with Leslie as the narrator. Obviously, I had missed something. Any future books in the series I will do with Audible, because the characters came even more to life, and I could not skip ahead to the finish by speed reading, (as I did with the first two novels) . If they go back to the initial narrator I will be happy to compare, but as a newbie listener, I thought Fiona Shaw brought the text to Life

Narrator was NOT good.
Reviewed: 01-30-23
I almost turned off this book during the first chapter, since the narration was so annoying. The narrator has a lisp with every S or S sound, and also sounded as if she had a mild nasal cold. I enjoyed the plot enough that I persisted and kind of got used to it, but it still is an exceedingly negative aspect of the experience. This is the first time I have had a narrator interfere with my enjoyment. I realize it is a difficult job, but the S sounds were like fingernails on a blackboard for the entire book.
