This novel paints such a perfect picture of a life, a time and a place that I’d call it a modern classic. NYC is as much a lead character as Griffin is. It’s sad and funny and beautiful and the author gives it the voice it deserves. It’s a great novel.

This is just a cool and creative tale of love, sex, drugs and life at an elite boarding school. I think telling the tragic story of Foster Dade (great name) from the investigation slant is pure genius and I couldn't stop listening. The author takes his time letting things unfold and the characters are engaging from the outset. I had to keep reminding myself that these are teenagers.
Narration was spot-on and I would imagine it was challenging due to the format of the novel.

This is one of the best books I've ever listened to and I've listened to over 1000 of them. When I really love an audiobook I buy a hard copy and I've already done it. Nash Jenkins is brilliant and I can't wait to read his next book!

A really original and engaging mystery with a healthy dose of the bard. Fantastic narration. I look forward to more from the author. Huzzah!

Edgar Sawtelle was amazing. Alas, this book is not. The first half is good but as we get deeper it just gets slow and repetitive. Really repetitive…. I wanted to love it so badly, but the final third was just so slow and pointless and boring. Maybe I missed something, but ugh.

I only listen to long books but I couldn’t wait to finally get through Finalias. Just a sappy slog at the end… Great narration though.

The way this story started was captivating, creepy and unrelenting in setting a tone for what I was hoping was the beginning of a brilliant thriller… Unfortunately, after we move to the second act, this novel is filled with boring, repetitive dialogue, silly characters and a plot line that stagnates… plus there is a little kid and I hate it when a narrator does a kid voice!!!! In all honesty, there are 4 hours left in this book and it probably has a great twisty ending but I can’t get through the slop to arrive there. I keep going to sleep… Skip this book!!!!

I loved this book so much! As a kid growing up in the 70's The Fonz was my first hero and I've always followed Henry Winkler's career. I was really excited to listen to this and it didn't disappoint in any way. It's just an honest look at an interesting, Hollywood life. The way Mr. Winkler tells his story in his own and jumps back to other important events while always moving forward is cool. It's like having a meal with someone that's telling you a good story.

His wife, Stacey adds her perspective to parts of the book too, and I like that she reads her own parts.

Takeaway: Be nice to people, treat people with respect, be true to yourself and work hard. Good things will happen.

The reader of this book is ultra/talented and pulls off characters and international dialects amazingly well. It’s too bad this follow up to Shantaram is so hard to get through. I’m so disappointed in the meandering story and multitude of characters. The last 5 hours when it all worked out for everyone was almost too hard to take, but after the first 28 hours I was hoping for a payoff. Shantaram was a work of genius. The is not that.

This is my first Bret Easton Ellis book and I thought is was fantastic. I couldn't stop listening. It was very graphic and raw, but just so compelling. I love a long book (I refuse to buy anything under 10 hrs) and this was just so interesting. I think a book is great when I'm still thinking about it in the days after finishing it and I might go back and listen to the end again! It was creepy and weird, funny, scary and sad.

I thought the way he painted a picture of the early eighties and the halcyon dream that was Hollywood at that time was really cool. Giving a glimpse into the drug-fueled lives of the privileged and entitled kids bombing through that lifestyle made me keep listening and the way he used the music of the time to set the tone made me nostalgic for my 1980's teen years. I'll admit, the main character (a fictionalized version of BEE) drove me crazy and I wanted to shake him a lot of the time, but I'm pretty sure that's how most of us feel about ourselves when we look back on our misspent youth. As a straight man I couldn't relate to parts of it, but it's just so well done.

Great job narrating and a great book.

I love Elton but this was ridiculous, unbearable and a waste of money. I couldn’t finish it. Listen to everything else from this author but not this weak satire. Lame, boring and just kind of stupid.
