An Abridged Version of "The New Testament" Course
- By Justin Bailey on 09-03-15
Very basic intro to books of NT - not what the course title says
Reviewed: 08-16-22
I was looking for an informative look into how the Bible was formed and transmitted through the ages. That is not what this book delivered. It is a solid undergraduate intro to the New Testament which has a brief discussion of assembling the canon and it’s transmission. There is helpful discussion of literal versus figurative/spiritual reading. Solid course but needs a new title.

Story
This book is a sweeping transatlantic history of Puritanism from its emergence out of the religious tumult of Elizabethan England to its founding role in the story of America. Shedding critical new light on the diverse forms of Puritan belief and practice in England, Scotland, and New England, David Hall provides a multifaceted account of a cultural movement that judged the Protestant reforms of Elizabeth's reign to be unfinished.

Lots of information that fails to convey meaning
Reviewed: 12-29-21
This book is a compendium of facts that are dislocated from any meaningful context. This is a perfect example of losing a book with information that does not convey a meaningful narrative that will provide a meaningful context for the facts. As a theologian, historian and pastor my problem is not with a comprehension of the facts but the lack of any human dynamic, either personal or historic, which renders them meaningful. A HUGE disappointment.

Read this if you want to believe in mind over matter
Reviewed: 09-15-21
Excellent narrator. The message of how to train your brain to awaken psychic powers comes with a disclaimer at the outset that the reader can’t hold the author responsible for the exercises not resulting in achieving the described outcomes. But the simplistic descriptions of meditation a mastery of the mind over things internal and external is a complete miss. Having meditated for over 40 years this is not only overly simplistic, it is just wrong! Waste of money and time.
