Story
Lola Ramsay is a veteran trying to come to terms with hearing her dog talking. A new life in a sleepy British village seems like the perfect place to work it out. Sassy, the Frenchie, is winning over everyone with her amber eyes, cute smile, and grumbly groaning noises that only a Frenchie lover would understand. When a body at the local art class sees Lola's friend as the main suspect, then Sassy and Lola must uncover the mystery and find the real killer.

It's been a while since I've listened to or read cozy mystery. This was a good reintroduction. The "talking" dog was amusing and one of the best parts of the story. I enjoyed listening to the narrator's engaging read and friendly, light tone that matched the story.

I was captivated by this story from the start. This book reveals with clarity and empathy the social and economic barriers in Thailand that make a life a prostitution the only viable option for many young Thai women. The storytelling by the narrator brought so much authenticity and realism. Well worth your time.

Story
In the small, mist-covered town of Harrowby, time drips like honey and shadows linger where sunlight should be. Thirteen-year-old Emily Turner knows what it means to be invisible, drifting through life as quietly as a ghost, with no one to hear her soft voice or notice the pain she hides. Then one day, when Damien White, the school’s golden boy with a dark streak, pushes her one step too far, Emily’s world begins to change.

This is such an enchanting little story! It’s about a young girl discovering her inner power with the help of a mystical cat. While the plot itself is super charming, the narration by Kristin Downey takes it to the next level. Her voice has a soft and dreamy quality which fits the ethereal nature of the book perfectly. It’s almost like she’s weaving a spell around you while you listen. It was a perfect listen for a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Story
Sixteen-year-old Frankie Budge—aspiring writer, indifferent student, offbeat loner—is determined to make it through yet another summer in Coalfield, Tennessee, when she meets Zeke, a talented artist who has just moved into his grandmother’s house and who is as awkward as Frankie is. Romantic and creative sparks begin to fly, and when the two jointly make an unsigned poster, shot through with an enigmatic phrase, it becomes unforgettable to anyone who sees it. The edge is a shantytown filled with gold seekers. We are fugitives, and the law is skinny with hunger for us.

The narrator brought these characters to life in such a real way. Excellent telling of the story.
