Story
Hadrian Marlowe, privileged first son of a Duke, was destined for greatness, and he has become a legend. The Sun-Slayer. The Breaker of Sieges. The Crusher of Civilisations. His is a story which defined the course of worlds. This novel is not that story - not the only laid out in the history books, charting the 300 years of his life. Rather this is Hadrian's story, told in his own worlds.

Character development

Intricate story with many plot twists and highly detailed characters development. Excellent foreshadowing enticing the reader to continue through the expansive series. I have one year to complete this series before the final novel of another series I have read is released — it promises to be an epic year ahead!

But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

The depth of the characters, the endless plot twists, scheming and continuously developing storyline keep you enthralled throughout the series. I cannot wait for the next installment. Honestly, unlike other series I have read, this one gets better with every book.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Depth of character
Reviewed: 03-26-24
Unlike the shattering of kingdoms, this one was a bit of a slow burner in my opinion. Definitely worth a read, but not as much vivid description as the shattering of kingdoms series. This book was more of an in-depth look at one particular character and his trials and tribulations. The narration was good, but doesn’t draw you in quite as much as someone like Simon Vance.

As with everything narrated by Simon Vance, this title was excellent. The narration is first rate and only adds to the rich plotline woven throughout this series by Emmet Moss. I am not partial to fantasy, but this masterful work by Moss has made me a fan of the genre. I will look for titles written by this author again, especially if they happen to be narrated by Simon Vance

Story
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.
