Story
Since his untimely death on June 29, 1978, Bob Crane's unofficial biography has become akin to a broken record. Like a skip in the acetate, his murder and the scandal that grew from it have been the repeated focus of attention, to the exclusion of nearly everything else. Over time, the line between fact and fiction blurred, and his life story became distorted. All perspective on Bob Crane as a human being was lost, and he became nothing more than a two-dimensional cartoon character without depth or understanding.

It’s awful that the media can destroy someone’s reputation. This book is extremely thorough and fair and leaves you with a better understanding of what happened and why Bob Crane is still a person to be admired and respected. I can’t wait to go back to watching more Hogan’s Heroes!

Jurassic Park with dragons
Reviewed: 08-15-23
If you like character development, this is not the book for you. If you like movies that are nonstop action violence, sometimes without purpose, then you might like this book. The reader is very good, but the writing feels like a rip off of Jurassic Park with cardboard characters.

Some of the stories were especially good, enough that I plan to look up more from those authors, which is the point of these collections. But there were a couple that didn’t fit….they felt poorly written and I tired of them quickly.

Story
In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

Very unusual story. It was very hard to predict what would happen next! The story is exciting and engaging. What would happen to the world if humans were virtually immortal but kept having kids? Could society be helped by a group of especially honorable people who would help keep the population down? What if some weren't so honorable? Add in the ability for the populations to come back from death as easily as running to the corner gas station, and an AI with some soft spots...

For fellow Star Trek fans, this is the story of Kate Mulgrew and has very little Trek in it, though you get to hear about her auditions for Janeway and a bit more. That said, it’s a fascinating, well written story. It’s exciting, funny, sad, poignant, romantic and never dull. Well worth the read!

Story
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Inventive but juvenile.

Good book for middle schoolers. No bad language, no true violence or graphic scenes that have bad endings. Exciting parts with interesting twists throughout. But it comes across as juvenile (may be the reader, who overall is decent) and the plot is simple.

I almost put this story down before halfway through the first book. The darkness at the beginning is heavy. Later the reader understands why it was necessary. This book is very different in tone and story. Impossible to guess the next event, keeps you on the edge with the plot.

I don’t read many romances but this one was well written. The characters had depth and the premise was fun and erotic. The only thing I would change is that the reader with the accent did not separate out the two characters well enough, but the context made it easily understandable.
