About this listen

In the blockbuster and best-selling tradition of Jurassic Park comes the breakneck new adventure from New York Times and number-one internationally best-selling author Matthew Reilly, whose imaginative, cinematic thrillers "make you feel like a kid again; [they're] a blast" (Booklist). It is a secret the Chinese government has been keeping for 40 years. They have proven the existence of dragons - a landmark discovery no one could ever believe is real and a scientific revelation that will amaze the world. Now the Chinese are ready to unveil their astonishing findings within the greatest zoo ever constructed. A small group of VIPs and journalists has been brought to the zoo deep within China to see these fabulous creatures for the first time. Among them is Dr. Cassandra Jane "CJ" Cameron, a writer for National Geographic, and an expert on reptiles. The visitors are assured by their Chinese hosts that they will be struck with wonder at these beasts, that the dragons are perfectly safe, and that nothing can go wrong. Of course it can't....

Action-packed (totally implausible) Adventure

A totally implausible premise but a rollicking rollercoaster ride of a book with a woman saving the day time after time. No character building or literary motifs but a fun listen with action scenes scrolling inside your eyes. Could make an exciting movie. Narrator did a nice job.

I want a dragon!

Lots of action. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. My only issue is was I wanted to know more about the main characters.

It happened at the very last second with only inches to spare...

I will say that I enjoyed this book and the concept was clever. It is similar to a Jurassic Park story line but with plenty of original content. The biggest thing that I had against the book is that sometime I think the author was trying way to hard to be dramatic. After the intro setting the storyline almost every dramatic thing that happened was "She just missed getting her face ripped off by inches but at the very last possible second..." I happens so much I started to expect it any time something dramatic happened. I believe the story is good enough on its own with out having to keep hammering into you just how close EVERY encounter was. Oh and the author needs to do some work on his weapons physics as well. Give the story a try and see what you thing. Even with the complaints I had I still was entertained and the concept of the book is cool.

Hair raising

Story feels like it could be true. The female leader is compelling. This would make a great movie ala Jurassic Park

An Entertaining Ride

Never ending momentum carries you from start to finish with a reasonably believable story line. My only detractor concerned one of the dragons who seemed a bit impossibly determined and, like a cat, with nine lives. Otherwise quite enjoyable for the genre.

Jurassic Park with dragons!

Worth the listen. Decent narrator. Somehow the hero always escapes by the thinnest margin. I wish they had gotten more into her bonding with lucky. But still something I would recommend - the last two hours was nonstop action.

Cheesy but fun and exciting

Yes, this book is cheesy but it was fun and hard for me to pause . Sometimes we need to whisk ourselves to a dystopian fantasy world with dragons.
