Story
The Heat Wave drew a violence that was swift and efficient at breaking humanity. Abraham’s people have come to the rescue—only for those they deem worthy. Banished with the task of culling this planet and others, Abraham is pressured to meet his quota while the population on Earth dwindles. He is disturbed by what he witnesses. Until he meets Nova. Twice. She’s refused his offer of sanctuary because the promise of a floating city in the sky sounds absurd, even if it does offer safety and relief from the sweltering heat.

It just didn't work
Reviewed: 02-02-24
First, let me say that I received a free code from the author. Secondly, I LOVED Sparrow Man by the same author and highly recommend it. Unfortunately this story just didn't work. It was extremely slow paced and there were elements in it that were random and didn't add to the story. It was also hard to keep up with the passage of time. While I thought some events happened in a relatively short amount of time, a character would say something that made it seem like weeks or even months had passed. The narration also was not great. Some of the voices were ok, but others were just annoying and the delivery was very flat.

It was a good starting point

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was really looking forward to this title and I really wanted to love it, but it fell short. I like the premise, but everything was very rushed. I think there was really enough in the book that the author could have turned this into a trilogy.
I love J.F. Harding and thought he did another fabulous job. This was my first experience with Jack DuPont. Overall I think he did a good job. There were a few times the differentiation between the 2 MCs was hard to figure out, but I would listen to him again.
