Story
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

I couldn't stop listening to this book. Very few books make me cry but it was so well written and narrated that I kept finding excuses to drive in my car so I could listen to it.

I absolutely love to all the books and listening to the autible versions of the first three eight books. This book was a bit disappointing at the end only because now I have to wait a year or more to finish it.

love the story and the characters. the only thing I did not like was the narrator and the different voices, it made it very hard to concentrate so I had to keep repeating. otherwise, a fantastic audiobook to listen to.

Story
Queensland, Australia, 1936. Sister Claire McAuliffe has been called from Dungarvan, County Waterford, to do God’s work in Jumaaroo, Queensland. Along with four other sisters, she is charged with setting up a Catholic school for the education of the gold rush families. But life between the tropical Australian rainforest and the azure ocean is far from the spectacular paradise it seems. Sister Claire finds life challenging in more ways than she can count, but far more worrying is the constant presence of the much-loved mayor of Jumaaroo, Joseph McGrath.

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.
