About this listen

World War II thriller in which two young girls, one a Resistance spy and the other a transport pilot, become unlikely best friends.

‘It’s like being in love, discovering your best friend.’

A British spy plane crashes in Nazi-occupied France. Its pilot and passenger are best friends. But just one of the girls has a chance at survival. Arrested by the Gestapo, 'Verity' is given a choice: reveal her mission or face a grisly execution. They’ll get the truth out of her. Only, it won’t be what they expect.

A visceral story of danger, resolve and survival, Code Name Verity shows just how far true friends will go to save each other. This updated edition features a brand-new short story, a retrospective from the author, a Q&A and more.

First Review!

I don't typically review books. In fact, this is my first. There is no way to capture how wonderful this book and narration is. Absolutely worth the read!

Outstanding

I couldn't stop listening to this book. Very few books make me cry but it was so well written and narrated that I kept finding excuses to drive in my car so I could listen to it.

Mediocre story and narrator.

It started off okay, but both the author and narrator seemed to struggle to finish the story. I was recommended this book by a librarian on tiktok who enjoyed the "twist". So I anticipated a fun surprise. Sadly, there really wasn't one. The author seemed to struggle wrapping up the book, so it meandered to the point I no longer cared. The narrator compounded problems by not being gifted with different and appropriate voices for various characters. All in all, I didn't care enough to look for other books in this series. Your mileage may vary. Cheers!

It was okay

I stuck it out, but really never shed a tear for any other characters and considering the Nazi circumstances you would think…
