I loved listening to Rebel narrate her own story & she gave me so many reasons to respect & love her. I loved hearing about her life background & who she is as a person.... a truly good, funny, very intelligent, talented & beautiful woman! Learning about her journey to self-love & acceptance was such a bonus! And her love story? Made me tear up.

This book is definitely far better than its ratings led me to believe. The storyline, suspense-filled plot & denouement are so creative and kept me listening far beyond my normal bedtime! I won't say anything that will spoil it for you but I highly recommend this exciting duel-timeline novel! I cannot imagine you'll regret it!

A Powerful & Unapologetic Look Inside Elite Ballet

Whether one likes Georgina's Pazcoguin's brash language or not, a reader who truly understands - or wants to - the life of a top level female ballet dancer in one of the world's best ballet companies will certainly find deeply fascinating, yet sadly boorish & misogynistic truths written in these pages. Gina's writing is humble, transparent, enlightening, sometimes a bit immature & dryly humorous. In a point, she is brave & is willing to risk her own image & possibly her future career in order to help change the racial & sexist environment for future dancers. I also find her narration the only one that could possibly make sense - who else but the author herself could do justice to her dry humor & timing; the narration is certainly "en pointe" & while her trashy language can get a LOT MUCH, it's easier to overlook in order to mine the deepest themes of her book which is really what her memoir is all about. It's the perfect time for a book like this in the wake of the #MeToo movement, the obviously suspicious timing of Peter Martins' "retirement" as NYCB's Artistic Director, & the greater movement toward diversity & inclusion in all aspects of society's art & culture.

One of the Most Beautiful Memoirs I've Read

Evanna Lynch, in her own voice and depth of truth, takes us with her on her inner journey thru childhood, anorexia, growing up, and the constant existential questions that have nagged the most sensitive of us throughout our lives: What IS this life? Why am I here? and most importantly, Will I ever be worthy? This memoir is un-put-downable & Evanna's lyrical prose keeps the story flowing seemlessly among the unbearable, the hopeful, and the blissful aspects of her quest for meaning and ongoing search for something that can sustain her & captivate her more than anorexia does. I absolutely loved this memoir for her creativity & naturally "full" ways of describing her inner thoughts and states. This book is a true work of written art, captivating at every turn and quite sassy & cheekily humorous even in the darkest of moments.

Charlitte Hubbard is officially my favorite author of Amish Fiction. And this lovely story doesn't disappoint. My only problem now is that I've listened to all of her books on Audible!!! I sure hope she writes more!

A Truly Well-Written, Uplifting Story!

Charlotte Hubbard, imo, writes the best, most heartfelt Amish fiction out there. Every book of hers leaves me with my heart wide open, and with the feelings of joy & hope coursing thru me. I know that these books often idealize the Amish way of life, so I definitely do not want to do that myself....but the one thing I DO envy is their deep sense of family & community. And that is precisely depicted in all of Charlotte Hubbard's works. Everything I have read of hers holds this special magic of moving the reader/listener & reminding us, whether Amish or not, what truly matters in the human journey. (I have listened to ALL but 1 of her books that are available on Audible).

Wasn"t a fan of the "demon" or "fallen angel's' role in this story. Could've done w/out & story, in general, coukd have been better. It seems like when the author hits on a profound idea or statement, she uses that as the end to a chapter instead of developing the concept further. It seems like a cop out to me.

One of the BEST Historical Novels I've Ever Read

This phenomenal book - made even more extraordinary due to the truth behind so many of its historical characters - will enliven and inspire any reader who yearns for Peace, Freedom & Equality for all human beings. The Spirit of Lafayette, as seen in his "strong-as-steel backboned wife with an outer appearance of soft velvet," Adrienne, and the women of Chateau Lafayette, make for a truly exciting, emboldening, & enlightening read. To know such brave women and men existed then and, of course, now, is a powerful motivator for us all to take on the privilege & duty to NOT stand neutral in the face of inequality & injustice in the many forms it may take. The comprehensive Author's Notes at the end make the story that much better. Much praise must go to author, Stephanie Dray, for her persistent, in-depth research & creativity to bring this powerful book to fruition.
