Story
Oxnard Matheson was twelve when his father taught him a lesson: Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then his father left. Ox was sixteen when the energetic Bennett family moved in next door, harboring a secret that would change him forever. The Bennetts are shapeshifters. They can transform into wolves at will. Drawn to their magic, loyalty, and enduring friendships, Ox feels a gulf between this extraordinary new world and the quiet life he’s known, but he finds an ally in Joe, the youngest Bennett boy.

I don’t understand all the love…
Reviewed: 06-06-24
Once I realized the main romantic pairing is supposed to be between Joe, who is ELEVEN and Ox who is SIXTEEN when they first meet, I couldn’t keep reading. From googling the story I understand that nothing romantic happens until Joe is seventeen but I’m just so creeped out by the whole idea that I can’t get past this. They’re even now obsessed with one another to an unhealthy degree and it seems like the reason for it is that Joe’s imprinted on him.. It’s giving Jacob and Renesmee and I just … sorry, I cannot. I don’t normally write reviews, but this was honestly a little triggering for me so I wanted to just put that out there for people. I didn’t know that when I downloaded it, and now audible wont let me return it, so I’m down a credit and upset over it so I’m trying to save someone else from having the same issue..
I seriously do not understand all the love for this story and pairing, and I won’t be reading any further to figure it out, I guess!
I did give it two stars bc I do love the characters and the setting and lore.. but I just cannot with the story. Sigh. Very bummed.

Story
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Story
Kell is one of the last Travelers - magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes. As such, he can choose where he lands. There's Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, ruled by a mad King George. Then there's Red London, where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. There's White London, ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. And once upon a time, there was Black London...but no one speaks of that now.

Story
Salem, Massachusetts, is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials - and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves the Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were? If dealing with that weren’t enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real, live (well, technically dead) ghost.

Do Not Bother - Seriously!

DNF - I’m not usually so blunt and if I don’t like a book I usually don’t even bother with a review because I don’t want to put off people from something they may like. Just because I didn’t like something doesn’t mean everyone will agree with me!
That said... I wanted to like this, truly. Loved the premise. And that is why I made it through 21 chapters before I called time of death. Every character especially the main character was cringeworthy both in their actions and what they say. It’s the kind of dialogue that makes me wonder if the author actually has conversations with other humans in the real world because it’s so wildly off putting.
Also, I listened to this via audiobook and I was horrified to find out the voice actor they chose to record this was actually the author, and that she also considers herself an actress. I probably could have slogged through this to the finish if it weren’t for the worst audiobook performance I’ve ever heard. I really don’t mean to be nasty, again, just being honest. I cannot believe no one told this woman that they should hire someone else. It’s just unfortunate.
Glad Audible has a return policy!

My new obsession
Reviewed: 10-05-19
I’ve loved everything I’ve ever read of Victoria’s, but I literally devoured both of these in two days. I am so obsessed with this series. The reason why I put this off for so long, is because I knew book 3 was out there somewhere with no release date in sight, and I didn’t want to *do that* to myself. I hate waiting! I hate cliffhangers! I will say though, that this concludes nicely and I don’t regret reading the series for a second. It definitely leaves you wanting more, but I doubt I’d ever feel satisfied with having enough of this series. I am in love with this world and all of its characters. Thank you once again Victoria for something new to obsess over.

I love this series and I cannot wait to read the finale.. but listening to January LaVoy’s performance just brings this to a whole other level. She is amazing and at times I couldn’t believe it was just a single person narrating because she is just THAT good.
