Not just restores my faith, because it's always there. This book, and Laura herself increased my faith and makes me want to spread kindness every day. She heals people's hearts with her gift. I feel very fortunate to have listened to this book. Thank you Laura. You touched my heart, and in doing so, my actions will hopefully touch others. ❤️

Such a great read. I'm gonna read it again.

Leah is refreshing and vulnerable and a hard core bad ass all at once. Not only am i happy that I had the chance to learn what she and countless others have gone through, I'm beyond thrilled that she's such a kick ass woman brave enough to tell it. Leah, if you read this, know that you and your family are very loved around the world and I would personally kick anyone's ass who tried to hurt you because of your escape and your truth. Love you!

This was such a captivating book. I found myself driving around the block once I'd made it home to keep listening. Such a great backstory and the southern charm just poured out of it like buttermilk on cornbread. The narrator was wonderful. The perfect blend of southern drawl and intellect. Loved it.

BEST book I've listened to in a long time.

I always love anything Jenna Lamia narrates, but January was a wonderful surprise and addition. I learned so much about the time of slavery, and was so so proud of Sarah at the end. She is a hero. this book touched my heart, and had it been an actual hard cover book, I would have carried it with me everywhere and not been able to put it down. Thank God for Bluetooth in my car and long car rides.
