AI narration is pretty bad. The story was OK, but the characters were as dead as the narrator.

Rather than write a long review, I will just say that I agree with the 5-star reviews. This book was an instant best-seller for good reasons. It is a page turner that has stayed in my mind. Lakshmi, the main character, is believable and very likable. I do love gutsy women who overcome obstacles and learn to make their own way. Set in Jaipur in 1955, this book paints an unforgettable picture of the local culture, including modern and traditional characters. I especially like the deft way the author moves the story along, while providing enough explanation of whys and hows for those who don’t know Indian culture. There will be a sequel out soon, and I plan to grab it up as soon as it is available. Must also say that Sneha Mathan is a PERFECT reader for this book! Well done!

Would you consider the audio edition of Gone Girl to be better than the print version?

Due to my schedule, I use audio books almost exclusively. The print version may be equal.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I did not bond with any of the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Gut-clenching suspense.

Any additional comments?

If you can stand it, this is a terrific read. Unfortunately, I can't stand this much suspense. Because the way this story is put together, it seems too possible, and therefore is even more scary. Wish I hadn't read it, since now, I can't stop thinking about it.
