this series is amazing, I wish the writer would do a book series, so many female sleuths are stupid and inept, not Emily Lane!!

Story
Criminologist Martin Knight lives a gilded life and is a thorn in the side of the police. But then his wife, Liz, goes missing. There is no good explanation and no sign of Martin.... To make things worse, Liz is the ex-girlfriend of DCI Craig Gillard who is drawn into the investigation. Is it just a missing person or something worse? And what relevance do the events around the shocking Girl F case, so taken up by Knight, have to do with the present? The truth is darker than you could ever have imagined.

Either I'm a lot smarter than I think I am, or Gillard is a lot dumber than he should be. The whole story was a bit of a cluster, by Chapter 10 I had an inkling and by 15 I had it figured out, both the A and B plots. I was not particularly impressed with Gillard, if anything Sam was a bit more impressive - maybe the series should have been about her. The reader isn't really privy to any extra information than the investigators have so we really shouldn't be able to solve it that much more quickly. The exception would be the diary entries, in more ways than one. They weren't overly informative but they were the smartest and most eloquent writings in the whole story. I'm going to try the next in the series before giving up, since I really enjoy the narrator so hopefully things will improve and Craig will drink a V8 and smarten up.

Love the narrator, always brilliant. Feel like I wasted the time invested up to this point. Killing off a main character is abysmally stupid and uncalled for. Didn't even finish the book I was so angry, and absolutely will never read anything from this author again as the trust is completely broken. thanks but no thanks.

I'm not really a fan of audiobooks but there are a few narrators that can tempt me because their performances are just that good. Jonathon Keeble is one of them, I often forget that it isn't more than one person that I'm listening to. The story of course was good as well, but I'm glad to be done with The Circle. I do find it strange that for someone like this author that's so anti-religion it's all she talks about. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

what can I say, can't get enough of DI Graham
Reviewed: 06-27-24
Gotta love the Gorey Constabulary. I love figuring out the mystery along with DI Graham and the gang. Matt Jamie, of course, does a superb job. To the point that I forget it's only one person performing and not different people. The only fly in my otherwise contented ointment is stupid Freddie Solomon, I can't remember which book he makes his debut but I hope he makes his exit soon, and preferably as a victim. I absolutely loathe him and have to skip over a lot of his parts because he's so infuriating.

Story
Graham is a detective inspector with London’s Metropolitan police force. He’s a career police officer, an educated, reserved, thoughtful, some might say, complex man. He has suffered tragedy in his life that serves to exaggerate his more introspective characteristics and, like many of us, has to look his demons in the eye from time to time and make tough choices. This box set contains the first four mysteries in this bestselling series.

Reviewed: 06-27-24
I was a bit heartbroken over the endinf of the first book but the writing is smart and the narration superb. I typically don't like audiobooks but Matt Jamie doesn't just narrate, he performs, and he does an outstanding job. DI Graham is one of my favorite detectives, smart, noble, slightly flawed but not overly so and a bit of a savant put him up there in my top 5.

Story
Modern parents are stressed out and tired. They’ve tried countless parenting books, many of which are harsh, fear-based books that loving parents instinctively reject. As Christians, we frequently believe that the battle for a child's heart and soul is fought on the outside with rigid rules, when in fact the opposite is true. Rejecting rigidity and checklists that don't work, Dr. Kimmel recommends a parenting style that is the opposite, emphasizing the importance of communicating the unconditional love that Christ offers and affirming this timeless message of grace to one's family.
